National NBN-enabled Digital Economy Forum 30.7.13

Take advantage of an NBN-enabled digital economy now!

Date: 30.7.13

Time: 5.30 - 8.00 pm AEST (use the TimeAndDate Meeting Planner to help you synchronise watches and calendars)

Duration: 1 hour online and 1.5 hours face to face at Digital Hub locations

What we have realised regarding the NBN, is that even those businesses and organisations who may already be connected, need to experience NBN to NBN connectivity first hand (e.g. video streaming like watching TV, crystal clear sound, immediate web page loading, sending large files very quickly) and hear about what others have achieved, to be able to move to the next level of digital engagement and maximise the opportunities now available to them.

The purpose of the forum is to:

  • Connect NBN-enabled Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and those involved in digital capability development around Australia
  • Share practices and highlight what has worked well using the NBN via case studies and examples
  • Identify the levels of capability needed for business owners/managers, digital consultants, organisations and SME’s to maximise the use of the NBN
  • Expose SME’s to the how to of using the NBN, and raising their awareness that they don't have to wait to get the NBN to get their business digitally enabled.

Case studies and examples will be drawn from the Digital Enterprise Program, Digital Hubs and Local Government, Education, Teleworking and ehealth.

It is planned that the forum will have an online national component with 7-8 digital hub sites connected with an official opening and 6-7 case studies and examples from around Australia followed by ‘off line’ local case studies and networking.  We have already made contact with these sites and have begun identifying case studies and facilitators for each site.

  • SME’s in NBN connected locations, SME’s about to be connected and those SME's interested in preparing for the NBN
  • NBN capability development providers, digital consultants and enablers such as Registered Training Organisations, Regional Development Australia, Business Enterprise Centres, local councils
  • Government (federal, state, local)
