Producer Ekta Kapoor says she decided to team up with Dibakar Banerjee to make Love, Sex Aur Dhokha because of the "shocking and unsettling" content
of the movie, which explores voyeurism in India.

"The look and the feel of LSD is unlike any other Indian film. It is so unsettling that you are constantly getting shocked while watching the movie. It is not the sexual content or any kind of story twist that shocks you but the basic realism," Ekta told PTI in an interview.

The 34-year-old, who redefined television viewing with saas-bahu soaps, is known for giving unbelievable twists in her serials but she stayed away from such gimmicks because the film demanded a certain kind of honesty.

India's first movie to be shot on digital format, the film released today.

"It is a film we truly believed in. It was not a formula film. It has been shot with a handycam but it has honesty in its script. I will never make a digital film and then beautify it to look like 35mm. It is about the cameras watching us in our everyday life. The film required a different grammar," says Ekta, whose Alt Entertainment has produced the movie.

It is Banerjee's third film after Khosla Ka Ghosla and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and Ekta admits that the director has taken a huge risk with the movie.
