I feel a lot more calm and far less tense without DH and it rubs off on everything else. He just use to make me so tense that I took it off on DC. Never realized that before. I am truly in a better place and I think my DC is too. But it's still hard though. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] Is your DH exhausted all the time? Mine only seems to have energy for work. He doesn't actively participate with our life that much, and it annoys me. Case in point: DC could use a swingset/play structure in back yard (we're in Westchester County). I mentioned it weeks ago, he does nothing, leaves it all up to me to source it, purchase it, even find someone to set it up. Gripes at the price tag. It feels almost neglectful. He works hard, but honestly, I think there are men who work harder (get up at 6am every day, etc. which he claims he could *never* do.) Haven't bought the set because I'm so sick of doing everything myself. Wish he would participate more in things. Anyone else feel the same way about their DH? 27 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I know he loves me (and I love him), we have a good marriage otherwise... but I guess it makes me feel very lonely in the marriage at times. I respect that he works hard. But so do I, doing my share of things. I listen to his work stuff (over and over again) and show interest even when it's not that interesting. I don't feel him doing that. [ Reply | More ]

I just get frustrated when I feel like I'm constantly pulling him along for various things that need to get done here, especially when they are things that are important for our daughter. I'm not that opposed within limits but don't want to start down a slippery slope when we are not here to monitor. What would you think if the nanny then arranges playdates where the kids watch TV (more than one show) at another kid's house? Sometimes after a long day out, kids need to zone out as we do too. The issue is whether you trust the judgment of your help. NP: For me too, tv is a big issue : you can't really control the quality of the programs, but it's especially the commercials that I think are truly hurtful. I would not send my kid to someone else's house to watch tv. There are plenty of other kids to have play dates with. Your nanny should know better and say that dc can't watch tv. I've nothing against DVDs and computer games, but we decide together with dcs what, when, and for how long they'll watch or play. Out of our supervision, there's no tv / computer games - period. DD is in fourth grade at a SS private. This year they have been learning about immigration, a comparison of the different abrahamic religions, a focus on the middle ages, structure of their society, and religion in the middle ages. This year they have also been learning how to do research reports and bibliographies. [ Reply | More ]

I think doctors who don't take insurance are more customer service oriented. I think that can lead to worse medicine, since the doctor is more inclined to to what the patient wants rather than good medicine. [ Reply | More ]

Good medicine as defined by an insurance company? I think you just proved the point. [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 05.22.13, 01:01 AM Flag

No, good medicine is defined by what is recommended by peer reviewed studies. I think doctors who don't take health insurance are more likely to offer treatments with no scientific backing because they want to make their customers happy. For example, I think a doctor who didn't take insurance would be more likely to give antibiotics even when it wasn't indicated, if that's what their patient wanted. [ Reply | More ]
