A very warm welcome to my new author site. What I love about this place is that it announces the transition from me writing only about Saudi Arabia to me writing about many other things I'm interested in. You'll see a hint of my latest novel, Kingdom of Strangers in the calligraphy pen and the rose, but otherwise I'm moving into new seas.

However, you can read plenty here about my Saudi novels. The most recent, Kingdom of Strangers, is already getting fantastic reviews. Kirkus says that "accomplished prose, an intricate mystery and insider Saudi scoop make for an unusual and winning combination." And a Publishers Weekly starred review calls it "beautifully crafted...with intelligence, patience, and meticulous detail, Ferraris evokes a complex culture profoundly ambivalent about female power."

My first novel, Finding Nouf, introduced Nayir Sharqi, a pious Muslim man and desert guide who sets out to solve a few mysteries...one of them being how to find a wife in a country that makes it difficult to talk to women, let alone date them. Finding Nouf won the LA Times Book Award and an ALA Alex Award. City of Veils, a follow-up, was an international bestseller. Rights to both books have sold in over 30 countries. The Presidio Brat is a more personal, local blog about the Presidio of San Francisco, a former military base and now a national park in San Francisco where I grew up and where I now live.

And for those curious about my nearly-finished YA novel, The Memory Seas is a page I'll be updating regularly with news about the book and sneak peaks into the creation, inspiration and science behind the story.
