Carlos Gonzalez - Office Manager

The office manager at the La Jolla Historical Society, he attained his degree in philosophy from St. John Vianney College in his hometown of Miami, Florida. He served as a Marketing Researcher for the University of Miami's School of Medicine and, after relocating to San Diego, as a Business Manager of St. John's Episcopal Church & School in Chula Vista. Gonzalez joined the Society in 2011. Since then, he has helped the organization in the areas of financial reporting, membership, organizational record keeping, event coordination, and donor acknowledgement and recognition. Carol Olten - Historian

Historian and Docent Coordinator at the La Jolla Historical Society, she is a professional writer on subjects of art, film, history, and architecture. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri's School of Journalism and has an extensive background in newspapers and magazines. A resident of La Jolla for nearly fifty years, she currently resides in one of the community's oldest houses built in 1908. (Employee: March 2006-present)

Heath Fox - Executive Director

The Executive Director of the La Jolla Historical Society, he previously served as Deputy Director for Operations at the Broad Art Foundation, Assistant Dean of Arts and Humanities at the University of California, San Diego; Director of Administration at the San Diego Museum of Art; and Associate Director for Administration at the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego. He completed a first career as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He holds an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester and a BS in Business Finance from Virginia Tech. He is a graduate of the Getty Leadership Institute's museum management program, the Harvard Business School executive education program, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education management development program. He has served on the Arts Commission for the city of Carlsbad California, completing four terms as Chair; on the Board of Trustees of the Balboa Art Conservation Center, completing one term as President; and on the Board of Directors of Balboa Park Central, completing two terms as President. Lena Nans - Graphic Designer/ Administrative Assistant

Lena Nans is the administration assistant and graphic designer for the La Jolla Historical Society. She holds a BA in fine arts as well as a MA in liberal arts and sciences which she earned at San Diego State University. After studying abroad in Hong Kong and presenting a few academic articles at Oxford University, she has settled back into the San Diego area. (Employee: August 2012-present)

Michael Mishler - Archivist / Curator

The Archivist & Curator of the La Jolla Historical Society, he received a BA in history from San Diego State University and a Masters in Library and Information Science Program from San Jose State University specializing in archival management and collections development.
