Tsu Koon brings down curtain on illustrious 30-year political career
KUALA LUMPUR: After being in politics for more than 30 years, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon today officially resigned as the president of Gerakan, a Barisan National component party.
Dr Koh, 64, an academician, started his political career when he joined Gerakan in 1982 under the leadership of the late Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik.
He contested for the first time in the sixth general election in April 1982 and became the MP for Tanjong in Penang after defeating Chian Heng Kai.
Dr Koh had earlier announced that secretary-general Teng Chang Yeow and himself were resigning from their party posts on May 11 and 16 respectively.
Deputy president Chang Ko Youn will take over as acting president until the party's central elections on Oct 26. - Bernama
