THE BLADE RUNNER AT UCSD

Gerard and Mario Rodriguez compete for the gold medal in men's wheelchair open foil

MARIO RODRIGUEZ AND GERARD MORENO DUKE IT OUT FOR THE GOLD MEDAL IN MEN'S WHEELCHAIR OPEN FOIL.

New for this year, the San Diego Division added wheelchair events to their signature tournament, the Bladerunner. Among the competitors were Paralympians Mario Rodriguez and Gerard Moreno. Best of all, there were fencers from Combat Arms. A fledgling program started for the Wounded Warriors but whose growth plans include expanding to any fencer requiring a wheelchair to fence.

Below are Maestro Stuart Lee, Rocky Herron (co-founders,) Andrew Bottrell (Wounded Warrior, triple amputee,) Co-founder and national wheelchair competitor Darryl Weiss,) and Paralympian Mario Rodriguez.
