Zambian international goalkeeper Kennedy ‘Kapa’ Mweene has completed a  three year deal with Mamelodi Sundowns, after agreeing personal terms with the Tshwane giants.

Mweene, who is also the number one goalkeeper for the Zambian National team says the reasons for him joining Sundowns have a lot to do with his burning ambition to play in the Champions League, this after he has enjoyed continental success with Zambia.

“Its an honor and a privilege for me to work with a coach of Pitso Mosimane’s caliber, because he is a man with a vision and his CV speak volumes. I know how he feels about playing in Africa and I want to be part of it too”

“I could have joined Sundowns a while back, but timing is everything in football, and since I have tasted what continental success feels like at national team level, now I want to do it at club level. This one of the only teams in the country that shares that same vision”

Mweene will join his new teammates in preseason camp together will the international players who were given extra time off.

  6. Victor Tshabalala says:

One can easily see that the coach is not the one doing the signings… I mean how do u sign a second keeper after raving about the Belgian? The way we goin on about it leaves much to be desired… 5 keepers? Where are they going to train? It’s so heartbreaking, our mighty sundowns has become the laughing stock of SA football!

    • bongane says:

well spoken but lets wait and see wait the management have in mind

      • xolisa says:

Victor I feel you bro…we have …1. Marlin, 2. Onyango, 3. Belgium dude, 4. Sunderland, 5. That young boy, 6. • CirocBoyWizz says:

Our team is run like a circus. Now we wan to trade Manqele for Mashgo with Swallows. Why do we buy every player that has one good season? Matshego has been in the PSL for a long time as an average striker, now he has one good season and we are ready to trade a player that has been unfairly treated but showed loyalty. We are literally killing SA football. We buy any player that gets a national call up and make him start or play less than half of the season. These players lose form and end up losing their chance at representing SA. One day Motsepe’s gonna pull out and this team will have serious if not irrecoverable financial troubles.

Now its the time to get rid of Sandilands he cost us a lot last season together with Teko and Mphela.

    • xolisa says:

Muzi no dude if the keeper costed us last season why is he always in the bafana bafana setup….dude a keepr is the last line of defence…before a person scores he goes though 10 players so you cant blame him blame the whole team as for Teko as much as I like the dude its a no no for me even his admire is starting to doubt him as he is substituted 1st in evry match…what does that tell you yet we renewed his contract and he is one of the top 3 paid players in the PSL yet he is substituted 1st in evry match

      • xolisa says:

A for Mpela NO the dude can go he needs to be in another team to rekindle his form not with us we are taking the player no where

  24. Mfolo Mfolo says:

Rre Mosimane, what is your VISION… What are you doing with 50 players?? Once more I am making an appaeal… trim your squad to a manageable 28 players, otherwise you are going to be like all the other coaches who came to sundowns and failed… pliz Rra we beg you.. besides we do not need 5 goalkeepeers in a team.. what are you doing with 50 players?? Release those that you will not be using this season so that they adjust at their new clubs during the pre season.. otherwise I see us heading for another CIRCUS

    • xolisa says:

MFOLO my man…..this coach of ours nc nc nc nc nc what are we doing…..what are they doing…..? no no no this is enough….why do we have to continuosly buy players why can we promote and work with what we have…….

  25. Sam mmangolo says:

Yah now is up2 de coach 2 win or lose, welcome to all new faces

  26. SAMBA says:

NOW I AGREE WITH PEOPLE CALLING MY TEAM SUNCLOWNS, SUNCOWS AND WHATEVER…..WHAT IS THIS REALLY, WHY ARE WE BEING HUMILATED BY THE MANAGEMENT AND PLAYERS CARIERS BEING DESTROYED?? WHEN WILL THIS TEAM GELL NOW? WHY ARE THE PLAYERS NOT RELEASED ON TIME TO FIND EMPLOYMENT ELSEWHERE? WE REALLY DON”T NEED THIS NEGATIVITY BEING CREATED AGAINST THE SUNDOWNS BRAND…..JUST SAYING.

    • xolisa says:

SAMBA dude…thank you someone who kows what he is talking about…what are they doing…you cant buy just cause you can buy no maan

  27. Bongani says:

To the new recruits so far welcome to the family,to the suppoters lets wait and see what the coach is trying to do lets not act against him he is trying to get his combination together i`m sure the team will be releasing players opening the space for the new recruits,i know we`ve been down this road before getting new players every season at the end no result atleast the coach understands african players and how to get the best out of them unlike before.lets give the coach a chance let him prove us wrong,”THE SKY IS ALWAYS THE LIMIT’.

  28. 5Times PSL Champ says:

It is time to release player seen as liability to requirements. But a wise man (Pitso) as well as management can’t release a player without getting the pplayers they want. Laffor, Modise, Pelembe are no good to team work and spirit. I don’t like Trott at all after being given such a gracious opportunity to direct football at Downs by ur President Mr Motsepe, He messed up, making us a laughing stock

  29. Muzi Kunene says:

I wish our coach can keep Doctor Mampuru not to loan him. That’s the only player who uses his crosses effectively unlike abo Mphahlele and others. What happened to our development, don’t we have any gud player there we can promote, this thing of always buying is not gud sometimes lets promote our own players even the President is always preaching development.

  30. samora says:

eish dis list of players is long i wonder wat wil happen nxt season.we hav 50 plys johhh

  31. wandile says:

Kenedy punch Schurt somaila Moon-Pelemb Kekna Wome CHeezBoy-Morr-Mushekw

  32. khazzey says:

Hi Masandawana! Lets give the coach chance for the rest of his pre season preparations and see who goner feature in coach’s plan in the early season. Sundowns have more signings due to rumours for players leaving. the likes of Mushekwe, Killer is now fading away, Teko need more challenges as well as Laffor, Pelembe, Lebo was injured throughout the year. Masandawana names does not win games but committed players can do us proud. Lets wait and see what is in store. Why Same clothing shop sell same brand of clothes in one shopping mall or same Edgars shop in one area. Let’s us wait and see who want to play for sundowns not those who want to be in Downs payroll please. Mayibuye Downs.I still want need one player Khama Billiat we will be done sure guys.

  33. abongile says:

    you r welcum

  34. Mondli says:

Welcome home.lets hope u wil give sandilands stiff competition

  35. This should have happenned a long time before even Pitso joined the team as head coach, nevertheless this is the best signing so far, as we all know what Mweene is capable of in the goal post. But I must say that I share the notion of the commentees when they say the numbers should be cut to the manageble number.

  36. Allan M says:

Wow i lyk dis guy i think is agood signng after all sandiland were doin at da goal post we nid Mwene.welcom

  37. It time to let go of mwanjale, langerman, laffor(selfish),nyondoro, onyango, sandilands, arendse, pelembe(not effective),mphela,henyekane,2ghanians,schut(highway),mphahlele. Letting go of manqele, mushekwi, thami and nyatama would prove to be suicidal. I dont see why they let khumalo go. And ngubane s also good. I like the team that gave chiefs a 4 1 hiding. This chopping and changing is destroying sundowns.

  38. Xolane says:

Lets jst leave everythng to the coach he knws wat he is doing

  39. Plz Masandawana make us happy this season, that will make more support in stadium, yellownation!
