Former Bristol City defender Lewin Nyatanga and Swindon Town midfielder Simon Ferry are amongst a strong Yeovil Town squad to face Poole Town tomorrow.

The pair of trialists have been named alongside summer signings Sam Hoskins, Joe Jones and Joel Grant to travel to Tatnam Farm for the first friendly of the summer.

Welsh international Nyatanga turned down a new contract at Ashton Gate in the summer, opting against League One football after almost three years with the Robins.

Ferry was released by Yeovil’s former League One rivals Swindon as the Wiltshire outfit aimed to slash their wage bill following their failed promotion bid. The Scot is a product of Celtic’s youth system but has played all of his senior football south of the border.

Captain Jamie McAllister and young full back Nathan Ralph are both missing from the squad to play the Calor Southern League Dolphins because of injury.

Manager Gary Johnson said: “You’ll certainly see the old faces and you’ll definitely see the new faces. Of course, I think people will be impressed with Sam Hoskins and Joel Grant, I’m sure they will.

“We haven’t had bundles of trialists so we have had a pretty small group to work on. Jamie McAllister and Nathan Ralph won’t be fit for Saturday, but it will certainly be our first team going down there and the group we have been working with since we have been back, plus one or two that we want to have a look at.”
