Sun and Ye will lead the Chinese swim team to the Barcelona 2013 FINA World Championships. The country will also be represented by top stars Jiao Liuyang, Olympic 200m butterfly champion, and Fu Yuanhi, who clocked the best performance in 2013 in the women’s 50m back.

“According to our results this year and the world rankings, I hope we can claim four golds, as we have four world fastest times this year,” told head coach Yao Zhengjie the website SwimVortex.com.

Three top swimmers will not travel to Barcelona this summer: Li Xuanxu, Olympic 400 IM bronze medalist, Zhang Fenglin, who placed fourth in the men’s 200m breaststroke at London 2012, as well as Liping Ji, who won the bronze medal in the women’s 100m breast event at the Shanghai 2011 World Championships.
