Amputee dies after being dragged from wheelchair in pit bull attack

Carlton Freeman was "minding his own business," riding his wheelchair on the side of a South Carolina road when a pack of pit bulls attacked him. The four dogs pulled the 80-year-old amputee out of his wheelchair, biting him as they dragged him toward the woods. Freeman was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. "He had bites and lacerations from his legs to the top of his head," coroner Chris Nisbet wrote. "Mr. Freeman was basically helpless [against] the attack." Three of the four dogs—which belonged to one of Freeman's relatives — were captured. According to Freeman's widow, "just catch them dogs before they hurt somebody else" was the last thing he said to her. [Source]
