Databanks

It includes data on earthquake, accelerograph and seismograph network:
Earthquake:About 7000 earthquakes have been recognized and recorded in history and by instruments. The earthquakes that have been reported before 1900 are called historical. The other earthquakes, which have been recorded by seismographs, are called instrumental earthquakes. Each of the recorded earthquakes has some information on date, time, magnitude, coordinates, province and hypocenter location on 1:100,000 and 1:250,000 sheets of districts, counties, provinces and quadrangles of recorded source map of event and also hypocenter depth. If an earthquake causes a lot of damage, then all the related information will be mentioned on the maps. Authentic information centers and public education institutes also report the deep mechanism of earthquake. If a center records such data, it will be presented on the maps, too. In case of high magnitude or destructive earthquakes, this information will be presented together with the name of recording institute.
Acceleorograph:It includes data concerning active acceleropgraphy network throughout Iran. The accelerography network of Iran has been launched from 1974. It has comprised 1041 sites up to now. The recording systems are analogue and digital. Available data on each site includes; site name and code, coordinates of hypocenters, provinces and additional required data. Acceleorographs are very sensitive and can record very high frequency displacements of the ground. Accelerograms are used in engineering of seismology to analyze the nature of earthquake for example distance, depth, acceleration and mechanism of related fault.
Seismograph:It includes data regarding active seismography sites of Iran. Iran's eismography network was inaugurated in 1957 when the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University was established. At present, 67 sites are working. Data on each site includes; site name and code, hypocenter coordinates, province and height from sea level. Seismographs are very sensitive instruments that can record extremely weak movements of ground. New generation of seismographs was used from 1964. They are more sensitive in comparison to older systems (systems used from 1900 to 1964).

Seismotectonic Map

The boundaries of country, geographic zoning and earthquake data are displayed on the map. With regard to the available data, it is possible to compare hypocenters with each other, quickly. Meanwhile, it is possible to find the best way to access to the heights, urban and rural areas and also important installations.
Earthquake:Instrumental and historical earthquakes are reported by their magnitude (if the earthquake magnitude is more than 7.1, red color is used, If it is more than 6.1 and less than 7, orange color is used. If it is more than 5.1 and less than 6 dark yellow is used. For more than 4.1 and less than 5, pink is used and for less than 4, yellow is used.
Fault:Two kinds of faults have been introduced that are; fundamental and Quaternary faults. If a fault has not been active during the past 10,000 years ago but indicates an enormous rupture is called fundamental fault. Quaternary type is a fault that has had at least one displacement during the past 10,000 years.
Data Layers:It includes 1:250,000, 1:50,000 and 1:100,000 sheets indicating the cities and provinces boundaries, waterways, contour lines (500m), distribution of cities, roads and mechanisms. Mentioned data can be added to map in accordance with the user application.
Accessory tools:Zoom out and zoom in capabilities, details, etc. are the other available points on sheets.

Thematic Reports

Scientific and specialized articles related to earthquake, seismotectonics, crisis management, innovations, etc are presented in form of reports, essays and summary of theses in form of map and illustration.
Some examples are; familiarity with seismology centers, earthquake from people and religions' point of views, Iran's earthquakes, and investigation on strengthening the amplitudes of waves, anti-earthquake room and deep mechanism of earthquake.
Seismographic equipments, momentum details on Bam earthquakes, Fathabad earthquake occurring on February 1984, Sorkhoon earthquake of March 1974, Tabas earthquake of September 1978, Manjil earthquake of June 1990, Golbaf, Sirch of Kerman earthquakes reports, Darrehgorg earthquake, Firoozabad-e- Kajoor earthquake of June 2004 are good examples of these reports.

Statistics report

Statistics index of data on 70,000 earthquakes is presented in form of statistics tables. They include time, magnitude, and province. Because of the convertible nature of earthquake index, it is possible to make appropriate changes after entering data.
Time:The time of earthquakes were between various times; 0-3, 3-6, 9-12, 13-15, 15-18, 18-21, 21-24. Number of earthquakes has been determined.
Magnitude:Based on presented scales, earthquakes of less than 4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, and more than 7 were studied. Number of earthquakes has been also determined. Waves passing through the internal part of the Earth are called internal waves. They can propagate in all directions. At the second stage, surface waves are recorded by seismometers. The movement direction of these waves is perpendicular to their propagation. They can pass through solid environments.
Province:Numbers of occurred earthquakes were verified and a percentage is allocated for each province of Iran.
