Halvor Ekern Obituary
EKERN, HALVOR O. (AGE 88)
Of McLean, VA died on Thursday, March 9, 2006 in Arlington, VA. He is survived by his loving wife for over 63 years, Margaret T. Ekern; three daughter, Carol E. Connors and husband, Paul J. Connors, M.D., JD of McLean, VA, M. Kay Ekern and husband, Nolan P. Sanchez of Falls Church, VA and Holly N. Ekern of Eugene, OR, one son, Bryan R. Ekern of Bend, OR and one grandson, Brendan Halvor Ekern Connors. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 13, in the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME OF ARLINGTON, 4510 Wilson Blvd. Halvor's life will be celebrated in a service conducted in the Fort Myer Chapel at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 followed by interment in Arlington National Cemetery with Full Honors.

He leaves a great legacy of service to his community and country, which will serve as an inspiration to many for years to come.

I appreciated very much Hal's dedication and serviced to the Arlington Republican cause, as well as his support for my campaigns for Arlington County Board.

To the best of my knowledge, Hal and I have been the only two editors of The ACTA Watchdog, the newsletter of the Arlington County Taxpayers Association. I can still remember visiting with him when he "turned over" the job of newsletter editor.
