Andrew has lived all his life in East Fife where he farmed at Flisk near Newburgh before becoming the Farming Editor of the Dundee Courier a post he held for 15 years before becoming an MSP.
Because of his background he has a wealth of experience in agricultural matters but also now has the responsibility of Parliamentary Group spokesman on Finance.
His political career began in 1986 when he was elected Fife Regional Councillor for Newburgh and Auchtermuchty. After boundary and local government changes was elected to Fife Council in 1995 to represent Auchtermuchty and Strathmiglo and finally in 1999 elected again to Fife Council for Newburgh & District which he still represents.
