A series of reports on qigong master Wang Lin by the Beijing News has aroused heated online discussions in recent days. The reports disclosed information on topics such as the master's kingdom of wealth and his secret photo album which includes pictures with many famous Chinese stars and politicians.
Wang has claimed that his special abilities were examined and tested by 17 Japanese scientists for 7 days and nights, which was reported by local news media. The American intelligence departments also promised to provide him with 70 green cards, but he refused the offer as he was too attached to his hometown. There were also reports that Wang would move a lucky stone to the office of Liu Zhijun, former Chinese Minister of Railways, to ensure that he could permanently remain in his position. Liu was convicted and received a death sentence with reprieve in July 2013.
The photo album named "Chinese" published by a Hong Kong publishing house collects photos taken by Wang Lin with the well-known Chinese internet entrepreneur Ma Yun, the famous action stars Jet Li and Jackie Chan, Chinese actress and director of the film "So Young" Zhao Wei, film actor and singer Chen Kun, famous film actress Li Bingbing, Chinese pop song singer Faye Wong and her husband Li Yapeng, TV host Li Xiang and so on.
The photo captions show that Li Bingbing took Wang Lin as her godfather. The Beijing News reported that Li Xue, Li Bingbing's agent responded that Li Bingbing went to visit Wang Lin to ask him to cure her mother of her disease. As for the effectiveness of the cure, the agent refused to disclose any more information. A CRI reporter tried to contact workers at Li Bingbing's Studio through the microblogging site Sina Weibo but has received no response to date.
Ma Yun posted a microblog on weibo.com on July 11th saying, "My friends often criticized that I went to visit "unscientific" things. It's my hobby to explore, admire and be curious about unknown things. Happiness lies in magic. Curiousness benefits people. Human beings often judge the world presumptuously with their limited scientific knowledge. Science is not truth itself but serves to examine truth. To overly indulge in one's belief and get lost in it however, may lead to superstition."
Other famous stars have not responded to this yet.
