Manchester United have agreed a deal to allow Ryan Tunnicliffe to join Ipswich Town on loan until January.
Town boss Mick McCarthy made a personal check on the midfielder in the recent friendly against Club Brugge when he gave a typically combative performance in a keenly-contested affair at Leigh Sports Village.
The 20-year-old has already trained with his new club and is likely to feature in Saturday's friendly against Notts County, possibly alongside former team-mate Frederic Veseli.
Following loan stints at Peterborough and Barnsley at Championship level, he will aim to make his mark with the Suffolk side with the new season on the horizon.
Tunnicliffe was a driving force in the 2011 FA Youth Cup-winning team and also a key member of last term's successful Under-21 side.
