Welcome, Baby! – Newborn Photo Session | Photoshop Actions by Paint the Moon
Posted on June 12, 2013
I’d love to officially introduce our third little monkey in the Manning clan … my beautiful baby Silas. We had a beautiful home water birth with his sisters there to help welcome him into our world (for those interested I will share our home birth story and photos on my mama blog very soon). After meeting Silas I decided that I really wanted to keep his newborn photos sweet and simple and take them in more of a “natural” style (I do love more styled sessions as well, but just wasn’t “feeling it” with my baby boy and ended up with a more lifestyle approach). I figured there would be time enough for more elaborate styled sessions when he’s bigger, but for now I just wanted to focus on how pure and beautiful he is as a newborn … plus, I have to admit I just didn’t want to put him down that long for photos! ;)
Editing and shooting details for those interested … edited using Paint the Moon Photoshop Actions with the Luminosity Collection – most of them used the action recipe using Luminous (an all in one base action) and a little Peach Frost, Whispers, and Brush On Peachy Skin Glow. Taken with a Nikon 85mm 1.4G lens and a Nikon 105mm macro lens lens all at f1.4 or f2.8, and at varying shutter speeds and ISO depending on the lighting.
And because it’s taken me so long to post his newborn photos (I just don’t want to put him down for even a minute!), he’s been growing like a weed and is now 8 weeks old and already close to 14 pounds! So, I’ll share a couple photos from this past week as well. :)
Some of the adorable bonnets and pants seen on Silas were from the lovely FAAS and Veronkia G. :)

Soon To Be Three – Maternity Photo Session | Photoshop Actions by Paint the Moon
Posted on March 20, 2013
Editing and shooting details for those interested … edited using Paint the Moon Photoshop Actions with the Luminosity Collection – most of them used the action recipe with Luminous, Adeline (low opacity), Film Haze and Whispers. Taken with a Nikon 85mm 1.4G lens and a Nikon 35mm 1.4G lens all at f1.4 or f2, and at varying shutter speeds and ISO depending on the lighting (anywhere from ISO 100 to 640, and shutter speeds from 1/125 to 1/400 second). I used a tripod and self timer or remote for many of them and always give big kudos to my husband for being my human tripod when I needed his help (we had our good friend Robin Long do a little family session so we also have lots of photos with daddy in them as well)! Self portrait maternity shots are *not* easy! :)
The smaller tummy shots were taken at about 31 weeks and the later session was done at 35 weeks. We have just two and a half weeks now until our baby boy is due. I can’t believe we’re going to finally meet him any day now! This pregnancy has just flown by and I’ve cherished every minute of it – I adore being pregnant and feeling a precious life growing inside of me. There is truly is no other feeling like it in the world – a miracle and such a blessing. Thank you for letting me share my maternity photos and baby boy adventure to follow soon with you!
