Actor Dean Norris asked for his character Hank to be killed off so he could leave 'Breaking Bad.'

With the final eight episodes of "Breaking Bad" looming, fans have been predicting which characters will survive until the end of the series.

One incident that the show's watchers likely didn't expect? Actor Dean Norris, who plays meth honcho Walter White's brother-in-law Hank, was hoping to have his character killed off in the first eight episodes of the final season, which aired last summer.

Norris stars in the new CBS drama "Under the Dome," and admitted on "CBS This Morning" Wednesday that he was trying to leave "Breaking Bad" so that his two gigs didn't conflict.

Norris plays Hank Schrader, brother-in-law to meth kingpin Walter White, on the AMC hit series.

"I said, 'Would it be interesting if Hank died in the first eight?'" Norris told the show hosts. "They said, 'No, we kind of need you for the last eight. We've been building that up for the last five years.'"

"Obviously, I'm glad they did," Norris said.

And he has high praise for the show itself.

"It's perfect," Norris dished. "Every little detail in that show is perfect."

Luckily, the shooting schedules of Norris' two big shows coordinated well enough that he didn't have to choose between the two.

But will Hank actually make it through to the end? That's something that viewers will have to find out when the show airs Aug. 11.
