SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans Available to California Small Businesses - Small, nonfarm businesses in 19 California counties including Los Angeles County are now eligible to apply for low-interest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. These loans offset economic losses caused by the drought that occurred June 4-July 29, 2013. The deadline to apply for these loans is March 31, 2014. For more information, please click here.

Pavement Work Scheduled for Pomona Freeway (SR-60) 55-Hour Weekend Lane Closures Pavement Work Scheduled for Pomona Freeway (SR-60) 55-Hour Weekend Lane Closures - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled a series of 55-hour weekend lane closures on the Pomona Freeway (SR-60) between Fullerton Road and Nogales Street for pavement rehabilitation work. Although NOT a full weekend freeway closure, motorists will experience delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes.

FREE SUMMER LUNCH & SNACKS FOR CHILDREN AT COUNTY PARKS 2013 Summer Youth Employment Program - Los Angeles County announces its 2013 Summer Youth Employment Program designed to allow youth ages 14-21 to obtain work experience. The priority of service is given to youth that are Foster Care, Probation, Homeless, General Relief, youth in a CalWORKs household. During the program, youth will be introduced to the workplace, gain valuable employment skills and earn an income. Youth will have the opportunity to gain work experience in a variety of locations throughout Los Angeles County. You may also contact LA County by email at summeryouthjobs@css.lacounty.gov.

FREE SUMMER LUNCH & SNACKS FOR CHILDREN AT COUNTY PARKS - The 2013 free summer lunch and snack program begins on Monday, July 1, and concludes Friday, August 16. Lunches will be served between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and snacks between the hours of 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. (Exact times vary depending on location.) Approximately 285,500 free lunches and snacks will be provided this summer to children at 48 county parks and 11 non-agency sites, thanks to the County Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture and the California Department of Education.

East L.A. ArtsFest 2013 on selected dates through September 7 - a cultural destination along the Gold Line Eastside Extension done in partnership with Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, Supervisor Molina’s ArtsFest includes an Artwalk featuring local artists and artisans, concerts, movie nights, interactive dance and music sessions. Audiences will be delighted with a variety of performers throughout the summer season, starting on June 30 and continuing to July 20, August 3 and September 7.

Property Owners May Seek Tax Relief from Powerhouse Fire Damage Property Owners May Seek Tax Relief from Powerhouse Fire Damage - The Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor is urging property owners affected by the Powerhouse fire to contact local Assessor offices for information and assistance about tax relief for property damage of $10,000 or more. Structures may qualify for tax relief.

211 is an easy to remember three-digit dialing code that enables a caller to access information about more than 28,000 health and human service programs throughout Los Angeles County 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is TTY accessible. 211 LA County, formerly known as INFO Line of Los Angeles, has been providing these services since 1981.

Visit C.A.R.E. for coordinated fire recovery and mudslide information, as well as vital information o on how to obtain building and transportation permits, mud and debris flow forecasts, road closures, safety preparedness, assistance programs, and shelter contacts.

There are 88 cities in Los Angeles County, each with its own city council. All of the cities, in varying degrees, contract with the County to provide municipal services. The County provides some services for all residents, like public health protection, public social services, property assessment and vital records.

   Unincorporated Areas
Get information about services provided to residents of unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. More than 65 percent of the County is unincorporated and approximately 1 million people live in these areas. The Board of Supervisors acts as the "city council" and County departments provide the municipal services.
