The Godzilla (2014) comic-con footage took place on Saturday, July 20th between the hours of 10:45am and 1:15pm and gave attendees a a real look at what to expect next May when Godzilla hits the big screens. Read on for a description of the footage which was shown and what it revealed about next year's Godzilla film!
The Comic-Con Godzilla footage started off with scenes of military, nuclear testing taking place, explosions, mushroom clouds, the whole bit. As the ash residue floats down, the title sequence for Godzilla is revealed. Following this brief intro, the footage from last Comic-Con is shown. This footage has been spoken about for a year, and the following two images are also a year old, from this footage.

Personally a bit disappointed we didn't get anything for the general public, but I do understand. I honestly think that people would go crazy if they saw any kind of teaser trailer which you would think would be a good thing. Maybe they just want people to wait so the excitement is even greater when something is released. Still, very excited to hear about seeing another monster. I have been waiting for this since rumors surfaced about it years ago. So I hope we will get to see something.

Uh just wondering if I'm the only one who noticed this but on the Godzilla encounter the radiation sign's are getting brighter as we get closer to the modern Godzilla unveiling. And there are sound files you can play under them that might be from an upcoming trailer depicting something alive.
Posted: Jul-21-2013 9:49 PM
Well, in the site Nuke The Fridge they say that maybe the third monster in this film is Hedorah.
Posted: Jul-21-2013 10:09 PM
Already working on an article, probably going to debunk the "Hedorah" rumor.
Posted: Jul-21-2013 10:42 PM
Yeah, there won't be any other Toho monsters. Just Big G. Everything else will be brand new.
BTW does ANYONE know if they unveiled that one statue from the encounter?
Posted: Jul-21-2013 11:31 PM
@KaiJuoh
I was at the encounter (Which was great btw. I had to chose between the encounter and attending the panel, but guessing from the lack of showing Godzilla in the new footage, I chose wisely) There was nothing really under the cloth then a Bandai Exclusive. Besides, last I read Jakks Pacific was in the running to supply the toys, which I guess will be confirmed or denied come this years Toyfair. I did notice another maquette though which everyone seemed to have missed, and it was the closest to what they presented at the end of the encounter, which was just all Head and face and eyes when Godzilla walks up to the window. I'll look around to see if anyone took pictures of it.

Heads up, I did find this on a site called JurassicCon. The sculpture provided was made by an industry artist, and looks fairly close to the head we saw in the encounter, accept less textures and with way less back spines. They also claim to have taken pictures of the third concept sculpture everyone seems to have overlooked. I wonder if this is the same one I'm talking about.....

Adam Striker
From Kaijucast: “They won’t be unveiling the figure. I interviewed the Bandai representative on Friday and he said they don’t even have anything under that veil.”
“They don’t even have anything under that veil.”
“THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE ANYTHING.”

^ wow...just....wow.
Posted: Jul-22-2013 1:08 AM
Yeah, again not surprised. In fact the more I think, the more I don't recall seeing any kind of veil in the display case. I wonder if they just took it out towards the end of the show? At least this validates some reports that other companies like Jakks are still in the running for the license.

That's... either horrible, or good. It depends on your perspective. It could (possibly) be good because we might get to see the trailer. It could be bad since now we have nothing to fall back on if they don't show us the trailer. The fact that we would no longer have anything to fall back on spares us from a possible delusion so it can be considered good. So many choices of preference.
Posted: Jul-22-2013 1:21 AM
The trailer isn't a factor being there's no real shot of Godzilla in it shy of his foot. Unless one is curious to see the new monster, I'm kinda curious. But, that won't make or break this film for me.
I will say, if they continue to build on top of the design they showed at the encounter....they're heading in a good direction. so far all of the maquettes (Accept the smaller head/bust) they had on display at the Encounter we're fairly faithful to what was shown behind closed doors. I listed a gallery site which I'll list again, who did a concept sculpt based on the older 2012 FX test footage. Even that was pretty damn close. Here's the site again:

@MRRADIATION thanks for the link! They did a fantastic job on that sculpt! If that turns out to be pretty close to the final design I am a happy man. That sculpt looks mean as hell!

What the fuck Legendary?! I understand why...business is business and u want to hype it up as much as u can so that u can make ur money...but why do us TRUE Gfans who cannot attend SDCC have to wait? We want to see something...anything...and we want it NOW!!!
Posted: Jul-22-2013 7:15 AM
Hearing that Godzilla towers over this insect monster make's me a little worried. To me, I never found giant insects interesting in Godzilla movies, I found them weak. I just hope that the other monster we haven't seen yet stands toe to toe with Godzilla and that it's an equal battle. Maybe even have alien origins.
But with a trailer or teaser, I understand why Legendary and WB don't want to release anything publicly yet, but not all of us can attend Comic Con and it's kind of frustrating at least release the footage from last year.

We probably wont get a trailer till super bowl wich is in febuary and if the movie comes out in may then the toys for it will be out the same time as super bowl;so im very confident we'll get to see the big G in febuary, movie toys always hit shelves two months befor release of the film.
Posted: Jul-22-2013 8:01 AM
*sigh* six more months to go.
Posted: Jul-22-2013 9:48 AM
I highly doubt we won't get one till Febuary, I mean come on....they'll release one soon I bet.
Posted: Jul-22-2013 10:22 AM
Legendary is dooming the film We had to wait forever for the Pacific Rim trailer, and it bombed. What's everyone talking about today? The Batman/Superman movie. The only talk about Godzilla (for the most part) is from outraged fans. FAIL! YOU FAIL!
Posted: Jul-22-2013 10:24 AM
I was thinking they may release a trailer when "The Walking Dead" returns in October...but that's only a guess. Honestly, I have no idea what their marketing department is doing.
Posted: Jul-22-2013 10:27 AM
@Worm Of Pittersplatter: Yeah that sculpt is pretty insane. I saw it and thought, Please let this be Godzilla! Which it just might be, as I said the head design they showed was fairly close. And you welcome for the link, it was a fun easter egg to find amid the sea of internet.
Speaking of, Jurassic con released a pic of the third maquette I was talking about. I haven't seen it anywhere here or any other website, but it's nearly spot on to what they showed at the Encounter! I'm not sure about the body, so people who saw the SDCC panel footage can inform us if the body is correct. Here's the link:

I was hopeing the second Gmodel was the new GODZILLA,the test shot looking one seems almost like its posture may be raptor like, the third model that was "OVERLOOKED" is a little too reptile like a monitorlizard with realy short upper legs standing on its realy thick back legs.
Posted: Jul-22-2013 11:35 AM
@G-Fan: The third model's head is spot on, another person who works for promos and legendary confirmed the arms and lizard qualities are true to what was released earlier in terms of concepts. Also the concept sculpt, it's damn close, the only thing being it's more textured and spikey then what was released. Oh, and Raptor like? Don't see raptor, elaboration?
As for the body, I'm not a fan, especially the feet. But again, whoever saw the trailers footage can confirm or deny if this is what the body will look like. At this point we're like Voltron, they'll form the body, We'll form the head, then we should get a complete Godzilla lol
Posted: Jul-22-2013 1:34 PM
Well not raptor but up to date therapod posture going by the angle of the neck, how about that.

Slightly insulted by Gojira804's commented about TRUE Godzilla fans not been able to go. I got up 1 am that morning to line specifically for the Godzilla Panel. Anyway the trailer was simplistic in nature up until the end where Godzilla rises slowly out of smoke behind the new creature. It seemed to me it was a finished teaser so I suspect that it shouldn't be too long till it's released to the public.
Posted: Jul-22-2013 3:52 PM
@THE-TRUE-BATMAN if i must say anything about this upcoming film i must say this from what i can tell we will have to wait until either december-febuary to see a full lenght trailer i hope to god that they do not kill godzilla like they did in the 98 film and that he looks more evil that he did in the 1991 model or even the 2000 model which by the way are my favorite designs 89 kicked ass and 2001 gmk design in my opion is the evilest of them all with his eyes rolled back in his looking like the devil himself that was truely bad ass like all of us true fans out there lets hope for the absoulte best
Posted: Jul-22-2013 3:56 PM
by the way does any one know anything else about the film other than the new monsters, the release date, and the actors which by the way guys akira tanakarada or however you spell his last name did you guys forget that he is playing in this movie if anyone knows what the true godzilla fans want in a film its HIM he has been there since the first all the way to final wars which i kinda of licked even though it was a bit cheesy
Posted: Jul-22-2013 6:33 PM
they took the pirated clip off line right after i saw it once... godzilla not looking to bad,, not as huge as the poster with his tail suggest.. but still can't wait to see a full body shot of him
Posted: Jul-22-2013 9:50 PM
@G Fan 84: Thanks, the site has since released more screen cap pics slightly enhanced. Id say it looks closer to the third full bodied model, but in both models cases he looks slimmer. Which is good, I was actually worried about the weight issue with Godzilla when the models first leaked. It s like he just went on a food binge out of depression when the 98 film first came out haha.
I'll defer back to another comment made here, before all the buzz about the leaked footage. About him looking to Dinosaur-ish. That's actually not an issue, being the original Godzilla was a dinosaur. It's the 98 Godzilla that was a lizard. If Gareth goes for a more lizard Godzilla this go around, it's actually a nod to the 98 Zilla. Not the original, food for thought.
