The popular musician picked up the Roots Artist/Group of the Year award Saturday night given out by the Canadian Country Music Association at a private gala at the Shaw Conference Centre.

Edmonton country music fans rub shoulders with the stars at fan fest

Veteran country music star Deric Ruttan took the stage at the Shaw Conference Centre Saturday and led the kind of banter and storytelling that fans in Edmonton for Canadian Country Music Week were craving. Ruttan called the other artists onstage — Dallas Smith, Tim Hicks, and Kira Isabella — gods and angels.
