WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 23: A red-eared slider turtle at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Washington, DC on July 23, 2013. Hundreds of flowering lotus and water lillies are in full swing at the garden. It's perhaps the most optimum time of the year to see the gigantic wonders. The Park website recommends viewing these flowers early in the day as the flowers close when temperatures get above 89 or 90 degrees. (Photo by Linda Davidson / The Washington Post)

Tree, Boston Public Garden, Mass., 2009. Squirrels are everywhere in the Public Garden. They have tried to climb up my tripod and make it impossible to eat a sandwich on a park bench in the summer without harassment. But what you see here are only four or five squirrels over about an hour. But when you are sitting there with your sandwich, it feels like there are this many. Also note that all the figures, except the little girl, are blonde women.
