31 Podcasts That Keep Freelancers in the Loop


The last thing you want to do as a freelancer is get out of the loop. You want to stay up to date with your skills and the best way to run your business as a freelancer. And thats why youre here at FreelanceSwitch.

Reading is a great way to stay in touch, and thats the purpose of most of the articles here. I often get great ideas as I read them, and the comments from readers help me feel part of a supportive community.

Podcasts are another way I stay in touch. I find opportunities every day when I cant read, but I can listen and podcasts help me to reclaim those times and make them fruitful. The time I spend driving, exercising and washing up are all good times to listen to podcasts.

Do you listen to podcasts? Why not try it? Listen to the experiences and tips of other freelancers, and from experts in your trade. Here is a list that should get you started. Let us know which ones you found helpful in the comments.

1. Freelance Radio

Of course we have to start with Freelance Radio, FreelanceSwitchs own podcast.

Frequency: approximately every 2-3 weeks

Whether you want to learn while you work out or to make that commute useful, Freelance Radio is the place to hear all the tips, tricks and news of freelancing.

2. Freelance America

Frequency: monthly

Freelance America is a podcast hosted by Wayne and Laurie Brekke, and features interviews with successful freelancers.

3. The Writing Show

Frequency: fortnightly

Since 2005, The Writing Show has provided engaging information and inspiration for writers of all kinds. We deliver high-quality, in-depth interviews, reality shows, and other features designed to shed light on some aspect of writing, publishing, and other topics of interest to people who write or aspire to do so.

4. Book Yourself Solid Radio Podcast

Frequency: weekly

Frequency: discontinued

The CG Casts last episode was in February 2007, but there are 36 episodes in the archives which may be useful to computer graphics fans.

The 101 Web Design Show throw out some ideas; some ways to handle things like navigation, photography, fonts, colors, the grid really basic stuff on a website, and then we sit back and wait for you to tell us if were full of crap hehehe. Its fun really.
