Prestigious college guides The Princeton Review and Forbes have just given the thumbs up to Loyola Marymount University as a top place to get an undergraduate degree, while the School of Film and Television has also been lauded by The Hollywood Reporter.

SFTV was ranked 9th nationwide and praised for its documentary and animation programs. The school also drew attention for enabling students to develop contacts within the industry.

LMU “is all about the internships,” said The Hollywood Reporter. “One-third of its students regularly find them, and they've worked in 400 companies, including Sony Pictures Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, DreamWorks, Disney and the Sundance Institute.”

The Princeton Review’s guide to “The Best 378 Colleges” rated the William H. Hannon Library among the 20 best in the country, and called LMU “a fun, beautiful, Jesuit institution, with a top-tier teaching staff.”

LMU also placed in the top 20 for quality of life and happiest students. The 2014 edition of The Princeton Review’s annual college guide does not rank the colleges in academics, but features just 15 percent of the 2,500 four-year schools in the country. The guide’s “top 20” ranking lists are based on student surveys.

The Forbes guide to America’s Top Colleges placed LMU 28th in the West and 149th overall, up 51 slots from last year. The ranking notes the impressive rise in respect for schools in the West, which was reflected in LMU’s gain.

Forbes lists 650 schools and notes that its list focuses not on what it takes to get into a school but rather is distinguished by return on investment or what students get out of college, including post-graduate success, graduation rate, national academic awards and student satisfaction.
