Musharraf in London on week-long tour

ISLAMABAD: Former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf arrived in London on Sunday on a one-week tour, APP reported.

It is his first foreign tour since he resigned from the office of president on August 8.

The former president would address the Cambridge University Students Union and meet members of various think tanks, a private TV channel said. It said Musharraf and his wife travelled by a regular PIA flight PK-785 that left the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad on Sunday morning.

Security was heightened on the route from his house to the airport and strict security measures were in place at the airport before the departure, the channel added.

Another private TV channel had earlier reported that the former president would be given full protocol upon his arrival in London. agencies
