Amit Bhatia
Chairman

Amit began his career working in mergers and acquisitions at both Morgan Stanley in New York and Credit Suisse First Boston in London. He then incubated Swordfish Investments, a private equity fund, and Swordfish Capital Management, an investment management company. Investments included education, media, telecoms and financial services. In 2007 Amit bought a stake in Queens Park Rangers FC and currently serves as its Vice-Chairman as well as Chairman of QPR in the Community Trust. In 2010, Amit set up the Global Relief Initiative. He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.

Chris Plant
Chief Executive Officer

Chris is a Chartered Civil Engineer who, until 2010, was Managing Director for Lafarge UK's Asphalt and Surfacing businesses, overseeing some of the UK's biggest highway and airport runway schemes. In 2010, having achieved world class health & safety performance in the UK, he was appointed VP H&S for Lafarge's Aggregates & Concrete Division worldwide.

Dallas Taylor
Chief Finance Officer

Dallas was previously with Anglo American where he was the Group Financial Controller for Tarmac. Born in South Africa, he is a Chartered Accountant who worked for various Divisions of Anglo American in South Africa before moving to the UK in 1999. As Financial Controller for Tarmac, he was responsible for all the reporting, policies, consolidation, and performance reporting and compliance across the Group’s international business.

Simon Phillips
Managing Director – Concrete, Aggregates & Asphalt

With a degree in Mining Engineering and an MBA, Simon has extensive commercial and operational experience in the industry, built over 24 years with Tarmac. His most recent role in Tarmac was as Executive Director where his highly commercial approach helped take the business from strength-to-strength.

Mike Cowell
Managing Director – Cement

Mike was previously the General Manager of Lafarge’s cement business in Bangladesh, and more recently head of the joint venture separation team for Lafarge. He previously served as the Supply and Distribution Director for Lafarge Cement UK and gained operational expertise as the Plant Manager of the Westbury Cement Works.

Jim Verity
Human Resources

Jim has been designated as Human Resources Director of Hope Construction Materials after 9 years at Lafarge. He has over 25 years’ experience across all aspects of HR in a number of blue chip companies, including Rolls Royce and two periods of employment at Tarmac. He has been HR Director for Lafarge's aggregates, concrete and asphalt operations in the UK since 2007.

James Stirk
Legal Director

James graduated in Law from Cambridge University before joining city solicitors Clifford Chance, where he qualified in the commercial department as a Solicitor practising in England and Wales. After three years in private legal practice with major firms, James joined Tarmac as M&A and commercial lawyer in 1987, becoming Head of Legal and Company Secretary of Tarmac’s Quarry Products Division in 1989. Over his 25 years with Tarmac, James has been responsible for executing the legal aspects of corporate strategy.
