GSN has ordered eight episodes of one-hour original series Skin Wars, a competition show which aims to find the most talented and versatile body painter in the country. It will premiere in 2014. During the competition, contestants are put through a series of wild artistic challenges, which may include camouflage, graffiti, multiple model installations, corporate ad campaigns, and animal art. Each week one competitor will be eliminated until one winner is the last artist standing. Skin Wars is executive produced by Michael Levitt and Jill Goularte. Producer is Robin Barcus Slonina, body painter, artist and owner of Skin City Body Painting in Las Vegas.

Hollywood must stop using the word “wars” in its reality show titles. Seriously, look what I found searching my program guide. Enough already:
Cupcake Wars
Container Wars
Food Wars
Property Wars
Shipping Wars
Storage Wars
Storage Wars Texas
Swamp Wars
I was just about to post the same thing. As if there is really anything at stake of any consequence in these shows…
This sounds amazing good for you GSN
This sounds pretty cool and can’t wait to see. Body painting is a form of art that is finally getting it’s due respect! Glad to see GSN is behind this.
This is where it’s gonna bomb…
This man does not know how to produce reality shows. A competition show is not an awards show or live events. Stop obsessing over effects, music, and minor edits. Focus on characters and story. This has the makings of a major fall.
This sounds like a frustrated editor or story producer who can’t deliver or take notes-
I’ve worked with Michael many times, he is one of the most creative and passionate producers out there and knows how to come up with the BIG moments people talk about !!
Syfy has a show entitled “SKIN” that is not a competition but is a reality show based on the company in Vegas that is the number #1 company that does all of the events in Vegas, has the MOST talented and in demand body painting artists.
I for one would be more inclined to watch Syfy as opposed to GSN and watch the best body painters and see how all the inner workings of that business are than a reality competition.
WELL… it is not based on the #1 company- It is based on a made up company created for the show-
humm not the best painters, more like make up artists , sadly. But its hollywood if SYFY took that bait
LOL
We may just be arising body paint artists ready to show the world what most wished they could could do. We will just have to give the show a chance and see some mad scientist artisans work the magic most wish they could conjur! Can’t wait!
This is some of the most incredible art work – what an interesting subject the competition should be amazing to see … look forward to this format
Sounds lame. Why does GSN have to continue to air this reality crap? This show is going to have the exact same result that Beat the Chefs and Family Trade had; It’ll air for one season, then we’ll never see it again.
What happened to all the GOOD game shows GSN used to air? All they have now is Family Feud and Minute to Win it, which I have gotten SEVERELY bored with.
Since GSN is not on the basic cable lineup of TimeWarner, I guess I can’t watch this…
