Good Luck Charlie, Episode 4, Starring Bridgit Mendler, Saw the Baby Take Her First Steps

Episode 4 of the teen sitcom Good Luck Charlie, starring Bridgit Mendler, premiered on Disney Channel Sunday night. In this episode, the baby Charlie (Mia Talerico) took her first steps on camera as an 11 month old. While the Disney Channel show is rather silly, it's got an irresistible quality about it and is something the whole family can watch. The two main storylines from Episode 4 of Good Luck Charlie on Disney channel centered on Teddy (Bridgit Mendler) resisting being the school mascot. Additionally, PJ (Jason Dolley) and Gabe (Bradley Steven Perry) race the baby against Emmett's nephew.

Episode 4 of Good Luck Charlie Involved High School Mascots

The show opens with Teddy filming a scene for her baby sister to enjoy in the future, where she tells Charlie that she wants to film her first steps, but the baby won't cooperate. Teddy and her best friend Ivy see Teddy's mother Amy (Leigh-Allyn Baker) watching old videos of her mascot days in high school, where she was South High's "Whammy the Rammy." There's a scene in Episode 4 of Good Luck Charlie where Amy is attacked by the North High Barbarian mascot. While PJ and dad Bob (Eric Allan Kramer) watch the videos, PJ notices his father in the videos with lots of hair, and finds out that Bob began to go bald at age 25, which gives PJ anxiety all throughout Episode 4 of this Disney Channel program.

Amy wants the Bridgit Mendler character to follow in her footsteps and implores her to try out, much to the chagrin of the daughter. During tryouts, Teddy tries to do badly, but because she's the only one who shows up, she gets the job.

Meanwhile, Charlie is dealing with the noise of PJ and his best friend Emmett downstairs as they do some band rehearsal. PJ brags about what his sister can do, but Emmett says his nephew Mason is better, so the two friends challenge their babies to a crawling competition. Gabe and PJ begin to do some "low impact" training on their baby sister in preparation.

When Amy finds out that Teddy got the mascot job, she gives the Bridgit Mendler character her old mascot uniform head and tries to teach her some mascot dance moves. But this drives Teddy to tell her mother flat out that she doesn't want to be a mascot for the upcoming big game with North High, which hurts Amy's feelings badly. After sulking, Amy decides to go to the game in her old mascot uniform since Teddy won't, but is kidnapped by three North High jocks. Surprisingly, Teddy shows up in her mascot uniform after being arm-twisted by her father to follow in her mother's footsteps. Amy escapes from the jocks and returns to the school, but when she sees her daughter get attacked by the North High mascot, she "tag teams" with her daughter to rough up the Barbarian mascot on Episode 4.

Good Luck Charlie, Starring Bridgit Mendler, Keeps the Family-Friendliness Going on Disney Channel

The babies Mason and Charlie race. Mason has a big lead until Charlie stands up and takes her first steps, winning. The final video spot that Teddy films towards the end of Episode 4 of Good Luck Charlie shows her and Amy with Charlie dressed up in a little "Whammy Jammy" suit, telling the infant via video that she's going to be a South High mascot like them.

The plot lines on this Disney Channel program are slapstick in nature, but in this day and age with so much titillation for the sake of trying to shock people, Good Luck Charlie proves you don't have to use those adult themes to get laughs.
