RE-ENACTORS

1890 Veterans Census
Northern Virginia

Included with the Eleventh Census of the United States (1890) were special schedules to identify Union veterans and widows of Union veterans of the Civil War.   This project abstracts the name of the veteran and/or his widow, the military unit in which he served, and the local residence for those veterans or widows enumerated in Alexandria and Falls Church as well as Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, and Stafford Counties from M123, Rolls 106, 107.   Additional information gathered on the census included street address, and notation of war injuries or disabilities.   There are quite a number of Confederate veterans enumerated whose names were subsequently struck; where legible, we included these persons.   Interesting to note, there were a number of United States Colored Troops identified, chiefly in Alexandria.

Photocopies of the census schedules are available.   Contact the Library for details. Contact the Library for hours of operation.  Please note our holiday schedule.   Phone: 703-746-1706;   FAX: 703-746-1720.   Please check the Alexandria Library's home page for holiday closures.
