CDMA / EVDO discontinuation of service

TSTT wishes to advise that the company has been requested by the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad & Tobago (TATT) to discontinue the spectrum that we currently employ for providing you with wireless broadband access on our EVDO network.

TSTT has made substantial investments to place faster wireless broadband technology in service namely WiMax, bmobile 4G and bzones.  This state-of-the-art network is capable of delivering faster download speeds at more affordable rates, offering enhanced value to you.

As a valued customer, we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to trade in your old EVDO device (Franklin Wireless CDU-680 and Novatel MC727 devices) in our ‘trade up to 4G’ promotion for a new device.

Customers are encouraged to contact their account representative where applicable or visit a TSTT Public Office for more details.

 

CDMA / EVDO Migration Q & A

1.   Why is the service being discontinued? 

TSTT has been mandated by the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and (TATT) to discontinue using the spectrum that we currently employ for providing you with EVDO wireless broadband access.

2.   When will the service be discontinued?

The service will be discontinued on March 28th 2013. 

3.   Will my EVDO device continue to work after March 28th 2013?

Sorry, No your device will no longer have access to the EVDO network.

4.   Which BLINK on the GO devices will stop working on March 28th 2013?

The following devices will no longer work from March 28th 2013.

5.   Where can I find out about what replacement device is available to me?

Managed accounts, your Account Manager will call to arrange the migration.  For unmanaged accounts, EVDO Small Business and General Customers will be contacted to visit our Public Offices to complete the migration during specific dates/times listed below.

6.   Will I receive the same download speeds or will this be faster?

With the migration offer you could receive speeds up to 4 times faster than that your EVDO device.

7.    Do I have to sign a new contract?

Yes, there will be a new contract associated with this service.

8.   What are the migration plans available?

As a special offer to you our valued Customer we offer you our BLNIK I Bmobile Personal Mobile Hotspot device at a special price of $299/month (VI). (Regular price $349)

The Mobile Hotspot is your portable, wireless Wi-Fi hotspot , which provides access to up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices, including notebooks, netbooks, MP3 players, smartphones, cameras, PDAs, portable gaming systems and more.

9.   Do you have another USB device option?

Yes, our new BLINK I Bmobile USB Dual Device, this USB device will available at our Bmoible retail stores from April 5th 2013 at a special offer $299/month (VI).

10.Will this 4G modem work with my MAC computer?

Yes. This modem supports all Operating Systems.

11.Should I remove the connection manager software associated with my previous device?

Yes

12.Where can I get support if I have problems installing the new modem?

No installation is required for this modem. However if you require technical support, you can contact our Helpdesk at 824-8788 option 5

13.What are the penalty charges if I want to cancel the service?

If the Agreement is terminated before the contract period has passed, the Customer shall pay to TSTT an early termination fee. The early termination fee shall be calculated as number of months left in contract/contract period X the cost of the device.

·        Early termination fee can be waived at Manager’s discretion.

·        Device returned within 7 days due to no service / coverage

 

14.Will I continue to have service in areas I was able to use my old device?

Unfortunately there will be some areas that you may not be able to access service.

 These include:

·        South of Palo Seco,

·        South Siparia

·        South Princess Town (Lengua Village)

·        North Rio Claro

·        West Cap-de-ville areas in Fanny Village

·        South Preysal

·        Between Matura and Valencia

 

15.How soon will these areas (listed above) have service?

TSTT is working to provide service in these areas before December 2013.
