Rima Kallingal is on an an experimental mode. After delivering brilliant performances in 22 Female Kottayam and Nidra — for which she also won the Kerala State Film Awards — the actress is now gearing up to try her hand in action. For the first time in her career, Rima will be seen performing some daredevil stunts in Rajesh Nair's Escape from Uganda. Rima, who is trained in the Kerala martial art form Kalaripayattu, is also proficient in the Manipuri martial art Chau.

"Escape from Uganda is based on a real life incident. It's the story of a family living in Uganda who gets trapped in the country. Rima plays the mother of a three-year-old in the film. Caught in a fix, she plans an escape from the country," says Rajesh. The movie also stars Parthepan in a prominent role.

Interestingly, this is the first time that a Malayalam film will be shot completely in Africa. The climax of the movie is to be shot in the Luzira Maximum Security Prison, a notorious prison in Uganda. The team claims that besides shooting at the source of the Nile, they will also can some shots near hot water springs and live volcanoes.

Rima is visibly excited about her new avatar. "So far, I have trained myself in Kalaripayattu and Chau mostly for my dance performances. But this will be the first time I'll be using them in action sequences," she says.

Quiz her whether she has started intense training for the same, and she replies, "We don't want to go overboard, especially since I play an ordinary woman in the film. Though we've already seen action heroines in Indian cinema, this film will bring to you a more realistic approach to action." Reportedly, the action sequences will be coordinated by Hollywood stunt masters. The story is by Rajesh and the script and screenplay are by 3G. The film is expected to start rolling this September.
