Shock split for Daniel Johns and model Louise Van der Vors

THEY fell for each other almost instantly and she moved into his Newcastle mansion within three weeks, but former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns and model Louise Van der Vorst have split, just shy of their four year anniversary.

Friends of the once-constant companions say they parted ways "some time ago," Confidential can reveal.

The rod-like Van der Vorst is the woman 32-year-old Johns turned to after the abrupt end of his marriage to fellow singer Natalie Imbruglia in 2008.

Now it's believed it was the Straight Lines multi-millionaire who decided the relationship was over - just weeks after the pair posed for a quirkily romantic spread in RUSSH magazine.

"I don't know if there was a fight or anything, but I'm hearing it was Dan who called it quits," a friend said.

"They were that kind of couple that were either all over each other or having a huge fight. There was no happy medium."

The party-loving pair were often seen smoking together outside different Sydney drinking holes - Van der Vorst shrinking from photographers - but usually they could be found hibernating at his north coast home.

In 2009, Johns talked of relocating to New York to support Van de Vorst's modelling career.

Yesterday her reps at Chic Model Management said they were unable to comment on their clients' personal lives.

Johns similarly could not be contacted.

Last May Silverchair announced they were going into "indefinite hibernation".
