The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) administers the Occupational Disability Response Team as a program service for workplaces and member organizations.  It also oversees activities at the Workers Health and Safety Centre (WHSC) and Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW).  The OFL works closely with  the Office of the Worker Adviser (OWA), an independent agency of the Ontario Ministry of Labour, to coordinate support services for injured workers and their survivors.

ODRT offers Seminars on Facilitating Work Re-integration

The OFL Occupational Disability Response Team is offering a series of seminars entitled Paving the Way 2 – Facilitating Work Re-integration, in ten communities across Ontario.  The one-day seminars run from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M and are offered on a first serve basis.  The workshops provide injured workers and workplace representatives with current information on WSIB work re-integration policy, disability prevention principles and return to work best practices.   Seating is limited so register online or download a  flyer to register and secure a seat.

Fall seminars provide road map for disability prevention

The OFL Occupational Disability Response Team will host a series of 1/2 day community awareness seminars entitled “Disability Prevention Roadmap” from September to November, 2013.  These seminars examine the full impact of occupational injuries and disabilities on workers, employers and society at large.  Participants will  explore innovative strategies and solutions, based on best practices, that  improve prevention and return to work outcomes.  The seminars are scheduled for 10 communities that include Toronto, Kingston, Guelph, Ottawa, London, St Catharines, Sudbury, Windsor, Hamilton and Etobicoke. Registration is $89/participants.  Seating is limited so register early to secure a spot.

Fall Training Seminars set for September 29-October 4

The OFL-Occupational Disability Response Team will provide advanced training on Worker’s Compensation Essentials, Appeals & Dispute Resolution and Occupational Disease at its Fall Seminars in Niagara Falls.  The event takes place September 29 – October 4, at the Embassy Suites Hotel Fallsview.  Registration is $900 for 6 day workshops on Appeals and Dispute Resolution and Occupational Disease and $750 for a 5 day course on Compensation Essentials. Fees include specialist instruction, all course material, refreshments and certificates of completion.  ODRT staff have arranged a special room rate at the Embassy of $135/night which includes  breakfast and snacks  for  participants attending from outside the area.   Registration is on a first serve basis so book early to secure a seat.

ODRT offering workshops on facilitating work re-integration

The OFL Occupational Disability Response Team plans to offer another 10 seminars entitled, “Paving the Way 2 – Facilitating Work Re-integration,”  in communities across Ontario.  The first seminar will be presented May 3rd in Ottawa.  It will cover RTW legal obligations, policies, leading practices, strategies and disability prevention principles.  According to Clarence MacPherson, ODRT, Operations and Communications, ” the ODRT delivered over eighty of these seminars in the past 2 years.   Continue Reading
