A textbook for seventh grade

The Kansas JourneyThis textbook written for a seventh grade audience by Jennie Chinn, Kansas Historical Society executive director, is tied directly to the current Kansas social studies standards. The text provides students with a wide variety of primary source materials which help to develop critical thinking skills. 

Individual copies available through the Museum Store; classroom sets through Gibbs-Smith Publishers.

A special Teacher's Resource Package to accompany A Kansas Journey is available through Gibbs-Smith, which includes suggestions for further reading, topics for discussion, interdisciplinary activities, related Internet sites, branches of government, and correlation to standards. The student activity pages feature reproducible blackline masters, reading comprehension, problem solving and critical thinking, maps, and tests.

This textbook is currently in use in most Kansas middle schools and is also an ideal reference book for libraries.
