Finks set to patch over to Mongols

Mongol bikie colours will become a much more common sight on the Gold Coast as 90 per cent of Finks patch over to merge into a global club.

THE Gold Coast's most notorious bikie gang has brokered a deal with a US powerhouse club in a deliberate push to become a global outlaw force.

At least 90 per cent of Finks nationwide will patch across and join with the Mongols, to become arguably the most powerful outlaw gang in the country.

Brokered in the past week, the deal includes the Finks handing in their club support gear and erasing or disguising club tattoos as they wait for official Mongol colours to arrive.

The patch-over of almost the entire club is believed to be largest seen in Australia and will see the Mongols become a major outlaw force of more than 400 members.

The move will realise the Finks' goal to go global, giving them "respect" and a voice on the international stage.

According to their website, the Mongols already have chapters in the US, Mexico, Norway, Spain, Thailand, Germany, Malaysia, France and Israel.

Senior Finks have not ordered members to join the US club, leaving the decision to the individuals.

It is understood older life members are angry at the move and fear the club will become extinct.

The club's younger members moved without hesitation and insiders estimate 90 per cent of the club would become Mongols.

Authorities have "no idea" what the patch-over will do to moves to have the Finks declared a criminal organisation, or if the legal action will proceed if the Finks walk away from the club.

The deal has stunned law enforcement who admit they had no idea the clubs would unite.

"This is massive," police said.

"This will elevate the Finks to the international stage and make them the most powerful gang in Australia.

"It will also give them international links equal to the Hells Angels."

The Bulletin exclusively revealed the Mongols had hit the Coast in June after capturing images of patched members of the Mongols in Southport.

There are fears the move could ignite further tensions between outlaw clubs, which erupted last Friday as a "lynch mob" of 60 Bandidos terrorised the Gold Coast.

Another fracas broke out between Hells Angels and Finks outside a health cafe yesterday.

Senior police sources say the Mongols -- sworn international enemies of the Hells Angels -- established a temporary base at Carrara, but are believed to be planning to move to the Finks clubhouse in Molendinar and commandeer traditional Fink territory.

"The Mongols are a serious bike club," police said.

"Look at their history. This club means business."

Outlaw sources estimate the Mongols have about 70 patched members in Australia, with the NSW Central Coast being the club's stronghold. The Mongols MC website claims the club has several chapters in NSW, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Taskforce Hydra has refused to comment on the Mongols' public presence for "operational reasons".

The Finks' and the Mongols' mutual hatred for the Hells Angels -- whom they call chicken heads -- is widely known and police fear it can only increase friction between the rival clubs.

"The Mongols are sworn enemies of the Hells Angels.

"In the US, the club has a `shoot on sight' policy for any Hells Angels," police said.

Violence between the two international clubs erupted at a casino in Nevada in 2002 in circumstances eerily similar to the Ballroom Blitz fracas on the Gold Coast in 2006 between the Hells Angels and Finks.
