Disappointing Jobs Report Another Reason To Delay ObamaCare

September 06, 2013

Arlington, VA- Today, Americans for Prosperity the nation’s largest free-market grassroots organization, responded to the latest BLS jobs report with the following statement.

“Millions of Americans still desperately searching for work are feeling the pain of the still-weak economic recovery, while hundreds of thousands leave the workforce entirely. With ObamaCare enrollment starting next month, millions more are at risk of reduced hours or job losses,” said Tim Phillips, President of Americans for Prosperity. “President Obama should recognize that his health care law is a deadweight on the economy that is halting job growth and hurting small business.”

The jobs report showed an increase of 169,000 jobs, with 11.3 million Americans who are still unemployed.  The unemployment rate is now at 7.3 percent, down from 7.4 percent. Surprising revisions to last month’s numbers showed a decrease in 74,000 jobs.  More than 300,000 Americans left the labor force.
