Savannah College of Arts and Design Bees Athletics

In 2011-12 the Equestrian team captured its eighth American National Riding Commission’s National Intercollegiate Team Championship. In 2011-12 Equestrian won its seventh Individual ANRC National Champion title.

The 2012-13 team once again had an exceptional season. Out of 14 competitions the Bees finished as Champions 7 times and Reserve Champion 4 times. Equestrian won the 2013 UHSA Regionals and went on to the IHSA Nationals and finished third.

The men’s team has qualified for nine national championships. SCAD has had thirty of its men named to All-America teams. SCAD men’s golfers have been named GCAA Scholar All-Americans twenty times.

The women have been ranked in the top 25 nationally each year since the program began in 2001. In 2012-13 the Lady Bees finished 9th nationally in the NAIA. Women's golfer Alazne Urizar finished the 2012-13 season as the top golfer in the NAIA. Head Coach Amanda Workman was the recipient of "Coach of the Year" in The Sun Conference.

SCAD swimming has produced 46 NAIA individual and relay national champions. 114 SCAD swimmers have been named NAIA All-Americans. Coach Chris Conlon was named the 2013 NAIA Women's Coach of the Year. At the 2013 Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships SCAD finished second.

From 2006 to 2012 the SCAD men have had forty-six players named to the SELC (Southeastern Lacrosse Conference) All-Conference team. Eighteen of these athletes were named to the MCLA All-America team.

SCAD has won two consecutive NWLL National Championships. Charlotte Cutts was honored as the 2012 NWLL’s Women’s Player of the Year. Kayla Nelson was selected MVP of the 2012 and 2013 NWLL National Championship. Head Coach, Nichole Hannon, was honored as the 2012 NWLL Coach of the Year.

In 2011-12 Ignacio Fernandez qualified for NAIA Nationals for the men’s team.

In 2011-12 Hannah Lieberman, Megan O’Boyle, Sally Francis, and Melanie Novack, qualified for the NAIA Nationals for the women’s team.

In 2012 men’s soccer had three first team All-Conference team players and two second team All-Conference team players. Richard Langthorne was honored as the 2012 Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The Bees have had three NAIA All-Americans in its program’s history. In 2012, three players were named to the All-Sun Conference team.

The men’s team has ranked as high as No. 8 in the NAIA and has made three trips to the NAIA National Championship in the program’s history.

Theresa Schmaus and Maja Plavsic won the 2012 NAIA National Small College Doubles Championship. In the last nine years SCAD’s women have a record of 107-39 for a 73% win percentage. In 2012-13 Coach Reinaldo Valor was chosen TSC "Coach of the Year," Theresa Schmaus was selected TSC "Player of the Year," and the women won The Sun Conference with a perfect 7-0 record.
