BT catches up with Bangalore band All The Fat Children

Bangalore has its share of bands with quirky names.Think Thermal and a Quarter and Galeej Gurus. And now, theres All The Fat Children.Well, the three of us happen to be fat! says Vikram Vicky Kiran, the vocalist and bassist of All The Fat Children when asked about the bands name.We wanted a name that was easy and in your face. The name also represents the fact that we havent let go of the child within us, he adds.
And far from being touchy about their weighty issues, the band embraces them.At one show the band and few members of the crew were getting down from our hotel room to the ground floor in an extremely cramped lift. The lift had clear warnings about the load limit. We calculated whether we crossed the overload limit.Just as we arrived at a conclusion, the lift went halfway below the ground floor because it was overloaded,of course! With a little help from the hotel staff we eventually climbed out, recalls drummer Sachin Savio Dane.
Comprising Eben Johnson (guitars/vocals),Sachin and Vikram,All The Fat Children was formed in 2008,and they insist on calling their genre of music Fat Rock. While our music may tend to sound Alternative,we prefer the term Fat Rock due the large sound we try to maintain.Rather than apply a ton of labels to the music we play,we sum it up in two simple words, says Vikram.
The band has come a long way from their first performance when they were in college the same college, incidentally, where Thermal and a Quarter and Galeej Gurus have their roots. It was a real awesome feeling, says Eben,We were real nervous before getting on stage, but once we were on,there was no stopping us.The crowd went wild and we had a great time entertaining them.Even after we stopped, the crowd cheered for us louder than they had for any other band that night.Thats one day Ill never forget. The band most recently performed in Bangalore with Motherjane and Pentagram, which Vikram describes as an honour and a privilege. We could sense the years of experience and history that these bands carry with them wherever they go, he adds.Is there anyone else theyd like to perform with The band wed like to perform with at some time in the future would be Indus Creed, says Sachin.
All the Fat Children have released their first single,November Forever, which they will follow up with a second track from the same album.
