"Scream 4", also released as "SCRE4M", is set to hit theaters in April of 2011. The main ensemble cast return, with Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, and Dave Arquette all agreeing to do a fourth movie. In a series that has spanned fifteen years, many questioned the creation of a fourth movie, especially having had an 11-year break since the release of "Scream 3" in 2000, but director Wes Craven and writer, Kevin Williamson have teamed up once again to bring us more "Scream"s.
Joining the cast are two young actresses who are beginning to firmly establish themselves in the acting world. Hayden Panetierre, who was filming "Remember the Titans" as a young child when "Scream 3" came out, and Emma Roberts, a virtually unknown actress that has recently crept onto Hollywood's radar.
Emma appeared in many films early on in her childhood, (some with her aunt Julia), as very minor characters,. But the cutie hit her big break when she was cast onto the Nickelodeon show, "Unfabulous." The show ran for three seasons and Roberts earned a slight "teen idol" status at that point.
During this time, she was cast alongside singer Jojo in "Aquamarine" for which she received a Young Artist Award for Best Supporting Young Actress in a Feature Film. Shortly after that, in 2007, she started in the title role of the film adaptation of teen-sleuth "Nancy Drew."
Like many Disney and Nickelodeon stars during, Emma had a somewhat short-lived music career, recording songs for the soundtracks of "Ice Princess" and "Aquamarine."
In 2009, she starred in "Hotel for Dogs" with Alec Baldwin and also hit the screen in, "Lymelife". The indie film was very well received, though it garnered a comparably low turnout at the box office. Her role in the film as Adrianna truly showed that the actress had acting chops. This role showed fans and critics that her success and easy break into the movie-making industry was not solely based on nepotism.
In 2010, Roberts was cast among many other high profile actors and actresses in the movie "Valentines Day." Starring alongside Ashton Kutcher, Taylor Swift, and her Aunt Julia Roberts, Emma's role in the movie was almost overlooked by some. However, she was phenomenal in her somewhat smaller role of Grace Smart, the quirky cute high school babysitter. Could this role have caught the attention of Craven and the "Scream Team."
Though she starred in five other movies in 2010, as well the romantic comedy, "Homework", opposite Freddie Highmore in the beginning of 2011, SCRE4M could be her biggest breakthrough to date. Roberts is finally given the chance at a high profile role that no one can possibly say her Aunt helped her get. It will be interesting to see how well she does and whether she can "hang in the big leagues" with actors she likely admires.
