The Minnesota Democrat will carry the Senate version of a bill introduced last week in the House. It's got a long name - "Simplifying the Ambiguous Law, Keeping Everyone Reliably Safe" - that boils down to the acronym "STALKERS."
"The public needs to learn about stalking," Andrews told Washington Post reporters Tuesday. "I had no idea just how serious this crime was until it affected my life."
Andrews continued, saying "that video on the Internet will be there for the rest of my life."
Last year, Andrews was stalked by an Illinois insurance executive who secretly recorded nude videos of her through hotel room peepholes and posted them online.
Michael Barrett pleaded guilty to interstate stalking and is serving a 2-1/2 year sentence in federal prison.
The ESPN reporter has recently sued several hotel chains for negligence and invasion of privacy in connection with the secret videotaping.
