Not long ago, FSA reported on a huge Russian MMA and Kickboxing event known as LEGENDS, scheduled to take place on May 25 and feature a rematch between Badr Hari and Zabit Samedov, a dubious fight between Alexander Emelianenko and Bobo Sapp, and a 4 man tournament lightweight tournament starring the likes of Dzahabar Askerov, Yuri “The Prince Bessmertny,” K-1 legend Artur Kyshenko, and the Greek superstar Mike Zambidis.
Unfortunately, according to a recent poster for the event put up by the LEGENDS team, it looks like Zambidis is out of the tournament, replaced by Muay Thai standout, Enriko Gogohiya. (See below)
Gogohiya is most recently coming off a huge win at GLORY 7 Milan against Thai sensation Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, and will be looking to continue his momentum against Dzhabar Askerov in the opening round of the tournament. This means Yuri Bessmertny and Artur Kyshenko will make up the other side of the bracket.
Zambidis’ exit from the tournament is unexpected, especially since he just recently conducted an interview with Yokkao promoter Stefania Picelli, and neglected to mention any issues with the event. There still has been no official reason for the withdrawal provided by Zambidis or his camp.
Stay tuned to FSA for more updates on LEGENDS as it happens.
