The Romanians tried to ruffle the Reds agin in this tie but a crucial away goal early in the game from Ian Rush ensured they were always playing catch up.

Rush finished off a Souness ball from a Lee corner on eleven minutes. Although Costel orac scored from a free kick late in the first haf the Reds were still in control. Chasing the game in the miserable conditions Ian Rush finished the game off six minutes form tie with a splendid finish.
