Aalborghus is a beautiful half-timbered castle built by the Limfjord by King Christian III in the years 1539-1555. In 1808-09 a free-standing building was added. The gloom of the dungeon and the casemates, where there is also an exhibition, contrasts with the otherwise so idyllic complex. The original ramparts around the castle can be seen in the gardens.

The castle is closed to the public.
