RAJKOT: Lakhs of devotees across villages, towns and cities of Saurashtra celebrated the 210th birth anniversary of saint Jalaram Bapa, revered as God here, with fervour on Sunday.

The event revived memories of Diwali, as devotees went about drawing rangolis in courtyards of their houses, while fire works lit up the sky. Devotees took out processions of tableaux on which children enacted scenes from mythological stories praising the lord while others offered annakoot' at the temples.

At Virpur, Jalaram temple witnessed an unprecedented rush of devotees who participated in morning arti ritual. Hotels and guest houses in this small town of Virpur were packed to their capacity. "We had organised a prasad distribution near Atithi Griha (guest house)," said Raghuram Bapa, enthroned heir of Lord Jalaram.
