Photo.net Recommended Gear

by Photo.net Editorial, April 2011 (updated May 2011)

While the Photo.net forums are a great place to discuss equipment choices, some times people just want to cut to the chase and see a list of the top gear. To that end, we have created the “Photo.net Recommended Gear” awards.

These awards are given in three different ways, one by our writers/editors/moderators/admins, one by the Photo.net user community, and one by Photo.net Chief Admin Josh Root.

Editors’ Picks

The equipment on this page all comes highly recommended by various Photo.net editors, admins, writers, moderators and gear testers. This group of people are among the most experienced photographers on the site. Many are working photographers (or working industry pros) and all of them know quality equipment when they use it.

Community Best Buys

This award is just what it sounds like, the gear that has been voted as a “best buy” by the Photo.net community. If you want the biggest bang for your buck and you put your trust in the power of group knowledge, this is where you want to look.

Josh’s Favorites

Josh Root has been around photo.net since 1998, has been a profession photographer since 2000, has authored dozens of equipment reviews, has run the whole site since 2006, and has been a gear nut the whole time. Playing with new photographic toys is one of the best parts of his job and he relishes every opportunity. The Josh’s Favorites list is his current “top ten” of cameras, accessories, bags, and gadgets.
