Dr. Angela Agrios, ND - President

Dr. Agrios founded and maintains a naturopathic private practice in Pacific Palisades, CA. In addition to private practice, she educates the public on preventive health principles through a variety of means, including: lectures, magazine and video interviews, and social media. Dr. Agrios also regularly partakes in advocacy work that supports the growth of the naturopathic medical profession at large. Her ultimate aim is to help create a health care paradigm that is preventive, restorative, safe, cost-effective and accessible to all.

Dr. Angela Agrios completed her undergraduate studies in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz and her post-graduate doctoral training in Naturopathic Medicine at the National College of Natural Medicine, in Portland, Oregon. She has been a California Licensed Naturopathic Doctor since 2007 and has served on the Board of Directors for the California Naturopathic Doctors Association since 2009. In 2010, she accepted a position as a House of Delegates Member for the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. 


Dr. Deborah Gleisner, ND - Vice President

Deborah Gleisner practices as a Naturopathic Doctor and Certified Professional Midwife in Los Angeles. Dr. Gleisner's approach to healing focuses on nutrition, botanical medicine, lifestyle changes and bodywork. She is a strong proponent of hydrotherapy, and employs science-based and evidence-based therapies. She views the care of a patient's health as a long-term, collaborative partnership between doctor and patient.

Her undergraduate degree is in Mathematics with a minor in music. She worked in the health care administration field as a database administrator for a number of years before returning to school and attending Bastyr University. While at Bastyr she spent a lot of time tutoring and TAing a number of different classes, as well as running the Herbal Ways club. She finds herself as a new graduate in a new state, starting her practice and wondering what happened to the rain.

Dr. Abida Wali, ND - Treasurer

Dr. Wali received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington and her B.S. in Chemistry from University of California at San Diego.

Dr. Wali is passionate about providing the best care for her patients at Ocean Pacific Integrative Health Center(www.opintegrativecenter.com) in Carlsbad and Murrieta as well as bringing natural medicine to the global arena. Following her passion, Dr. Wali has participated in several global healthcare relief efforts: volunteered with Relief International ® for Pakistan earthquake relief, participated in an interventional pilot study with the Tibetan refugee population in Dharamsala, India, and worked with the NDI (Naturopathic Doctors International) physicians in providing free naturopathic medical care to underserved communities on the Island of Ometepe, Nicaragua.


Dr. Wali's is committed to supporting global health care for underserved communities. Her long-term goal is to establish at least one free integrative clinic in a third world country while continuing to offer Naturopathic Medicine in Southern California.

Dr. Elspeth Seddig, ND

Dr. Elspeth G. Seddig attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, where she was a Bachelors of Science Double major. Soon after, Dr. Seddig is a received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medcine in 2001 from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She has a certificate in Environmental medicine, which is a huge part of her practice. She started Pacific Heights Naturopathic Clinic, P.C. in San Francisco in 2005, at a time when Naturopathic medicine was so new to California that she was the actually fifth ND in the city. Prior to living in the Bay area, Dr. Seddig founded Acadia Naturopathic Clinic on the coast of Maine, a practice which she sold yet is still running under a new name.

Dr. Seddig is a member of the AANP and the CNDA. She enjoys working with a full diversity of patients and is passionate about increasing awareness of Naturopathic medicine both statewide and nationally. She is a natural detective and educator, bringing to the Board her experience with practicing in two states, having been exclusively in private practice for over a decade.

Dr. Virginia Osborne, ND

Dr. Osborne graduated from the accredited National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM), Portland, OR in 1995 following a seventeen year career as an RN with critical, emergency and cardiac experience. Upon receiving her ND, she has established practices in Colorado, Montana, Oregon and California.

Dr. Osborne is an IV therapy Academic Instructor and Clinical Department Supervisor at NCNM/Natural Health Centers simultaneously researching and developing research for the use of IV micronutrients in treatment modalities. She has served as a board member of many state and national associations, contributing to the NPLEX exam since 1999.

Dr. Osborne is a co-founder of IV Nutritional Therapy for Physicians, lecturing and developing workshops on IV nutrition, chelation and clinical emergency since 2001. These workshops provide complete training to physicians internationally for the safe and effective use of intravenous nutrient therapies. A co-author of Parenteral Micronutrient Therapy, a book written for physicians in 2004, she is currently working on the next generation book on IV Nutrient Therapies as well as many other published articles on the use and effectiveness of IV nutrient and chelation therapies.

Dr. Emily Dashiell, ND

Dr. Dashiell earned her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of California, Santa Cruz followed by her doctoral degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. The focus of her practice is in women’s health, pediatrics, and digestive complaints, however, she regularly sees patients of all ages with a broad range of conditions and concerns. A former collegiate swimmer and competitive triathlete, her knowledge of the high demands of serious athletics and the importance of proper nutrition and health are integrated into her practice.

Born and raised in west Los Angeles, Dr. Dashiell is happy to have returned to California to practice medicine and practices in beautiful Santa Monica. She has been involved with the CNDA since 2004, and is proud to be co-chair of the Professional Development committee and to serve on the board of directors. Other professional memberships include the AANP and Ped ANP. She additionally teaches nutrition to students at Bauman College and works part time as a Los Angeles County Ocean Lifeguard in the summers, as she has since 1997.

 

Dr. Debi Walker, ND

Dr. Debi Walker earned her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA in 2006 and completed a two year integrative oncology residency in (2006-2008) at Cancer Treatment Centers of America - Midwestern Regional Medical Center in greater Chicago, IL. She graduated with highest honors from University of California at Santa Barbara in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physiology/Cell Biology. Dr. Walker has experience in research in molecular biology and she has served as an adjunct professor at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA and Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, NV.

Dr. Walker is in private practice in North Lake Tahoe where she specializes in providing evidence-based naturopathic and integrative therapeutic options for patients diagnosed with cancer. She believes that knowledge is power and regularly delivers a popular lecture on cancer preventing compounds in plant foods. Her best secret weapon against cancer is to get every person to “Eat a Rainbow a Day!”

Dr. Setareh Tais, ND

Dr. Tais received her naturopathic medical degree from Bastyr University in 2009 and completed an integrative family medicine residency in 2012. After practicing in Washington for three years and serving on the WANP Board and Continuing Education Committee, she has relocated to her hometown of Fresno, CA. She is currently in private family practice and sees patients of all ages but has a special interest in integrative and holistic reproductive health and infertility.

Since joining the CNDA Board, she has also participated on the CNDA legislative committee; she is actively committed to the legislative efforts to expand our scope of practice so that it parallels our training and to gain health insurance coverage so that our services are not cost prohibited in our communities. She believes that naturopathic doctors are the solution to a healthcare system struggling with rising costs and an alarming shortage of primary care providers. Since participating on numerous research studies since 2005, she affirms that naturopathic medicine is cost-effective primary care with therapies that are evidence-based, wellness-oriented and holistic. She has presented evidence-based research about naturopathic medicine in lectures, social media and peer-reviewed journals. Her writings appear often in the Natural Medicine Journal and Naturopathic Doctor News and Review.

Dr. Lilian Au, ND

Dr. Lilian Au, Chair of our CNDA Membership Committee, has donated countless hours to the smooth operation of the CNDA, our events, and especially to our membership. She has worked with our CNDA Membership Committee for the past few years, supporting our membership with a sincere loyalty to improving benefits and to ensuring that all new members receive a warm welcome when joining the CNDA, and any additional guidance that may be needed.

Dr. Au is a licensed naturopathic doctor at Paracelsus Natural Family Health Center in Pasadena. She is graduate of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and was the recipient of the Daphne Blayden Student Award for her academic achievement and her compassionate nature in helping others. She completed two years of residency through the National College of Natural Medicine based in Portland, OR. Prior to medical school she was a research associate for 2 years in the Child Health Research Program at Children's Memorial Hospital and helped to conduct studies on clinical and public health issues that affect children's health. She is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Associations. She enjoys running, cooking, watching baseball games, and traveling in her free time.

Dr. Jennifer Bahr, ND

Dr. Jenn Bahr has been an active member on the CNDA Legislative Committee since before graduating from SCNM in 2012. She is a dedicated member, and her help on recent legislative efforts has been indispensable. Dr. Bahr practices in Capitola, CA, and is passionate about helping promote healthy families with sustainable, patient-centered care. She welcomes all patients, but specializes in pediatrics. With expertise in nutrition, homeopathy, environmental and plant-based medicines, it is her goal to help take the weight of the world off of small shoulders.

Dr. Bahr is among a small group of licensed naturopathic doctors that focuses on child and adolescent mental and behavioral health. She received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, where she focused her clinical studies on homeopathy and pediatrics. Prior to that she was an Arabic translator for the US government and served 6 years in the US Navy. She received her Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Neurobiology from the University of Maryland. She is a member of the National Center for Homeopathy, the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the California Naturopathic Doctors Association. In her free time she enjoys yoga, running, photography, and hiking with her Labrador Retriever, Sadie.

Dr. Erika Horowitz, ND

Dr. Erika Horowitz

Dr. Erika Horowitz received her Bachelors degree in Environmental, Populational and Organismal Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She then attended National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, where she was awarded a dual degree of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005, and a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2006. She is a licensed Naturopathic doctor in California and a member of both the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the California Naturopathic Doctor's Association.

Striving to be compassionate, and empathetic, Dr. Horowitz is dedicated to offering her patients comprehensive natural medical care. She practices general family medicine with an emphasis on women’s health, fertility and integrative endocrinology.

With a priority on integrating naturopathy into a diversity of settings throughout the bay area, Dr. Horowitz practices at San Francisco Natural Medicine, Alma Holistic Spa, and Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley. Embracing the Naturopathic principle of “doctor as teacher,” Dr. Horowitz is available for lectures and consultation.

The volunteer NDs who chair our various committees are at the heart of the work the Association does. These doctors work tirelessly to rally and direct other volunteers and to move our profession forward in the state.
 

Legislative Committee Chair:
Dr. Minna Yoon, ND

Dr. Yoon has donated countless hours to the success and forward movement of our profession in CA. She has worked with our CNDA Leg committee for the past few years, supporting our past president Dr. Simon Barker in the successful passage of SB1246 that secured our ability to run CLIA waved tests and hire NAs, and mostly recently led us through the successful passage of SB1446 to clarify our independent nutritional IM & IV scope. Thank you Dr. Yoon for your commitment and hard work in advocating and fighting for our legislative rights!

During her premedical studies at Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Yoon took classes in medicinal plants and nutrition, sparking her interest in natural medicine. Inspired by the philosophy of naturopathic medicine, she advanced to Bastyr University and received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine. She continued her studies and received her Master of Science of Traditional Oriental Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Yoon enjoys working to educate people about optimizing their health through natural means. Dr. Yoon is currently enrolled in advanced studies towards a Certificate in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Dermatology, the first one offered in the United States, at ACTCM in San Francisco.

A native of San Jose, CA, Dr. Julie Tran earned a BA in Psychology from The University of Redlands in Redlands, CA. During her undergraduate studies, she interned at the Loma Linda Behavioral Medical Center as a Behavioral Health Specialist. Inspired by the idea that there is more to healing than just changing brain chemistry, Dr. Julie decided to pursue a career in naturopathic medicine as an avenue to explore whole person healing.

Her studies took her across the country to Bridgeport, Connecticut where she earned her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and two Masters; one in Human Nutrition and one in Acupuncture; all from the University of Bridgeport. A firm believer in Hippocrates who said “Let food be thy medicine,” Dr. Tran trained with Dr. Peter D’Adamo, ND, author of the New York Times Bestseller, Eat Right for Your Type (The Blood Type Diet) at the world renowned D’Adamo Clinic. During this time she also became a Fellow of the Institute for Human Individuality (FIFHI). Dr. Tran is happy to currently be back home in San Jose, CA; where she completed her Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from Five Branches University.


An avid researcher and clinician, Dr. Tran enjoys writing articles and keeping patients abreast of new treatment methods. When not researching or seeing patients she enjoys relaxing, music and spending time with her husband and her dog.
