Ever wondered how you can make that mouth-watering crème brûlée or the amazing Kale quiche or the quintessential methi pulao without breaking into a sweat? Help is now a click away with a website called Cucumbertown.

Cucumbertown is funded to the extent of $300,000 by Super angels from Silicon Valley—500 Startups, Naval Ravikant of AngelList, Sizhao Zao Yang, Co-Creator of Farmville, Maneesh Arora of MightyText and Google AdSense, Richard Chen, an ex-Product Manager at Google, Tabreez Verjee, Co-Creator of the Sonique Player, Sunil Kanderi, CEO-Mokriya, Chandra Kalle, an angel investor and Dave Kashen, Founder and CEO, Quantum Leading and Unleashed.

In its beta stage, Cucumbertown is being built by four people in three continents—Cherian Thomas, ex-Zynga engineer, Arun Prabhakar, an early startup employee at Taggle, Chris Luscher, Partner at Information Architects, and Dan Hauk, leading Tumblr theme designer. Thomas and Prabhakar are from Bengaluru.

Cucumbertown is targeted at cooks, chefs and foodies who have always thought about publishing their works but stopped short considering the efforts involved. “In fact, Cucumbertown has chefs and cooks from India, Middle East, Germany, United States, Switzerland etc.,” said Thomas.

“Cucumbertown is the result of my frustration of over a year of trying to blog and publish recipes. Generally, people use WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger and similar sites to blog. This works for the determined. But for your mom, my sister etc. this is extremely frustrating and cumbersome,” explained Thomas. “Think about it as Dribbble or Tumblr for cooks and recipes. Cucumbertown makes it ridiculously simple for someone to get started, write recipes and publish them. Others can contribute by submitting pictures, adding tips, sharing, rating etc.,” said Thomas.
