IGN's Vita Indie Week Begins Monday
Big love for little games
With the next-gen wave preparing to crest and wash over the industry, now feels like the perfect time to celebrate games and studios that try to entertain us without the benefit of highly-advanced graphics engines or 300-person dev teams. The PlayStation Vita is quickly emerging as a hotbed for independent games, thanks in large part to Sony's willingness to promote small devs who lack publisher support. Starting Monday morning, and continuing through the week, I'll be releasing one original video piece per day, covering nine of the most intriguing upcoming indie titles for Vita.
Here's a rundown of everything you can expect to see:
Day 1 – Building a Better Plane in Luftrausers
Day 2 – Arcade Shooter Showcase: TxK and Velocity 2X
Day 3 – Puzzle-Strategy Showcase: Super Exploding Zoo and Furmins
Day 4 – Indie Platformer Showcase: Mutant Mudds Deluxe, 1,001 Spikes, and Metrico
Day 5 – IGN Plays: Proteus
Links to each piece will be provided here as they go live, so be sure to check back throughout the week if you miss anything. Please join me as I give some big love to games with small budgets, and don't forget to sound off in the comments below about the indie games you're most excited for.
Vincent Ingenito is IGN's third newest recruit, and third biggest MOBA fan. He also doesn't suck at fighting games. To hear him nerd out about them and other games, follow him on Twitter.
