Meet the Health Innovation Broadcast Consortium (HIBC.tv). The domain ‘born on’ date was 2.12.13. The effort would focus on the five days in March (3rd – 7th) when that sea of health informatics humanity and related interests associated with HiMSS (the Health Information Management Systems Society) descended upon ‘the City of New Orleans’ for it’s annual show, tell, learn, mingle and connect ritual. Initial seeding of the vision came via four independent health care, social media, health tech and entrepreneurial infected peeps who intermittently began a discontinuous conversation (thank you Google Hangouts) around how to best cover, share and create live journalistic meaning from this annual sojourn while leveraging our […]

Pierce Graham-Jones is the West Health Innovator in Residence at the US Department of Health and Human Services. He is also a newly chosen for Forbes annual list of “30 Under 30″ in the category “Science and Healthcare.  According to Forbes, “the young disruptors, innovators and entrepreneurs on their annual listing of the 30 under 30 are impatient to change the world…In sum they represent the entrepreneurial, creative and intellectual best of their generation.” Wow!  That’s cool. I love it that HHS is becoming a destination for such amazing healthcare entrepreneurs.  This is definitely not your mother’s HHS. Listen as Gregg Masters, HIBC.tv co-founder, interviews Pierce about Blue Button Plus:

Some of the Best of the HIMSS13 HIBC.tv Interviews (So Far Anyway….)

Posted on March 7, 2013 by in Medicine, News, Patient Empowerment

As host of TDWI, I am a founding member of the new HIBC.tv consortium together with Nate DiNiro of OpenAffairsTV  and Gregg Masters of XanateMedia.  Alex Fair and myself are also helping out by crowdfunding the effort on our respectives sites:  HealthTechHatch and Medstartr.  We are doing our inaugural programming at HIMSS’13 in beautiful New Orleans. Here are some of the interesting interviews that we have “in the box” so far: Well known healthcare journalist, Neil Versel (@nversel) does his annual interview with Athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush recorded live by HIBC.tv from House of Blues. How often to you get to see the interviewer and interviewee clink beer bottles before embarking on a wide-ranging interview about EHRs, and open data, and the death […]

@EricTopol Rocks the HiMSS13 House with a “Moon Shot”

Posted on March 5, 2013 by in Connectivity, Health IT, Medicine, News

It was fitting that a Jerry Maguire ‘show me the [data] money’ moment on steriods served as context for Dr. Eric Topol’s keynote at HiMSS13. Though remote from his talk, the buzz in the twitterstream told the story. Topol is a rock star in the creative destruction of medicine and that tool may be in your very hand: the increasingly ubiquitous ‘smart phone’. For a summary of his talk, check out and mine the tweets via the @symplur #HiMSS13 transcript. The analytics are available by clicking the ‘key influceners’ graphic above.
