Oli Sykes joins animal rights campaign

Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes has become the new face of animal rights organisation PETA2. The singer became vegetarian in 2004 after seeing an online documentary about animal cruelty online.

"I actually decided to go veggie after I saw a video on PETA2's website," Sykes told Kerrang!. "When I saw how animals are tortured on factory farms, I couldn't justify being a part of that cruelty. I thought,

'Imagine if that were me'. Straight away, I said, 'That's it - I'm going vegetarian'."
The singer, who is "thrilled" to be the new face of PETA2, previously raised funds for the charity by designing a T-shirt for his Drop Dead clothing line sporting the slogan 'Meat Sucks'.

"I did the design myself," says Sykes. "We wanted to do a shirt for a charity and PETA2 is a great cause. It ended up raising a few thousand pounds for them, which I think they appreciated!"

I can't understand why everyone hates BMTH and Oli Sykes so much. He's doing a good fucking deed here and still getting abused for it!
I'm veggie and have been for 7 years and big BMTH fan so im very pleased to hear the news.

This is hilarious

Everyone hates BMTH because they're a very average band who are big because they got their image right according to scene kids ideas of what image should be.

Bands like Beneath the Massacre, The Black Dahlia Murder and Cephalic Carnage are all far better at death metal and don't get the same appreciation because they don't have the right hair cuts.

(although why people think they do have the right haircut is beyond me. Olie Sykes looks terrible on that photo.

My thoughts exactly.
The question isn't why do so many people hate BMTH, but why do so many people love them? It's beyond me as to what their appeal to fans is. I mean they're not breaking any new ground, and as you said the aforementionned bands (particularly The Black Dahlia Murder) just don't get the recognition they so very much deserve.

I've heard one or two of the tracks from Suicide Season and thought the guitars sounded good (possibly even Scandinavian lol) but Oli Sykes is just such a terrible vocalist - he can't scream as well as other bands and he just sounds awful. And again as it's been mentioned his hair doesn't really do him any favours either. A shining example of style of substance. I'm not slating anyone who does like them though, cos everyone is to their own tastes.

How I would've loved to live in earlier decades like the 70s or 80s though, there may have been fewer bands back then, but what ones there were were on top of their game because back then you HAD to be good to get noticed, nowadays though I can't help but think there's just so much crap out there that we could do without.

I think its awesome that hes getting involved with peta!!
Being vegetarian myself, I know why he wants to stand up and fight for what he believes in.
